Thought it might be a good idea to run some Seafoam through the intake before winter... (guess why?) - I filled a spray bottle w/ about 2 oz. and misted the intake under higher idle (about 1,500-2,000). It produced the blue/gary smoke of course, then the smoke stopped and it started to idle rough.

Took it for a 5 min. ride with a rough running engine, (thinking it needed to clear itself) brought it home then realized the front cyl. was not firing - the FRONT exhaust and head were cooler to the touch.

I plan to pull the front plug (on the off chance the wire worked loose or plug went bad). Plugs replaced 500 miles ago with NKG Iridium 9 series from American Sport Bike.

Any guesses?

It did fire on both cyl. for a very short 5 sec. interval in the midst of that 5 min. trip...then went back to running very rough.

Me thinks it's Seafoam related, but maybe not.

I'd guess a piece of carbon the sea foam loosened has bridged the gap in the plug, and now it is fuel fouled. I'd start with a new plug. We ran iridium plugs in our motocross bikes and found that they fuel foul pretty easy, leave the choke on too long and it cost a plug.

I thought you were supposed to get it up to temperature. Then introduce the seafoam. Then shut it down for 10 minutes to soak. Then run it like a dog for a few minutes.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did, followed their instructions to a 'T'

It never cleared up - front cyl. was not firing early on in the misting process.

I'm off to pull the front plug and install a stock HD 10R12A plug I happen to have on hand.

Sorry, I pulled the front NKG spark plug that had about 500 miles on it and it was caked in carbon and fouled - I could pick it off with my finger nail.

I'm thinking, the Seafoam liquefied the carbon and crud from my intake (caused by the rocker box breathers), then as it burned it deposited on the plugs.

I pulled both NKG Iridium 9 series plugs and went to HD 10R12A. The back plug had carbon as well.

Probably best to do this Seafoam process before changing plugs.

Damn stuff does work.

After I buttoned it up, I put 1/2 can (about 8oz.) in a full tank of 93 octane fuel.

Runs really strong again.

I plan to stay with the stock plugs.

Yes to the above and a good idea when spraying any thing down the intake, ie carb cleaner or other placebo/snake oil chemical.
