Hello. I need some info from experts, is the 2008 triple trees compatible with the 2006-07 forks? If it is, who has them and how does this mod change the riding? Thanks |

From information in earlier threads- - Yes, the 08-up triple clamps will fit. The fork tubes are the same diameter where they fit in the triple trees for all years) - You have to machine a new, longer pin for the lock mechanism so that the fork lock will work - People who've done the mod claim it makes no significant change in handling even though it makes a pretty big change in the front end geometry |

I was wondering if it would increase a bit the stability and increase the front end weight there fore more feed back from the front end and better cornering as i have tried many setting mods but i need a bit more of front weight. the bike handles nice but i'd like a bit more of stability in fast cornering and more lean over. Increased offset traditionally increases stability and will, as a matter of physics, decrease weight on the front wheel (though it will have no real effect on wheelie tendencies). I can't speak to the Uly specifically. Playing with triple clamp offset is common practice in off road racing. There a 4mm change is considered quite significant. This is of course all else equal, perhaps you could increase the offset and then increase rear ride height and end up with more weight on the front wheel and the same stability as before. On the Monster and TL I've found that lower bars help tremendously with weighting the front end and increasing front end feel fs taller bars. |

Hi, I did the tree swap and REALLY liked the improvement in garage turn arounds and low speed U turns. I however found it to be unstable with a distinct head shake around 55 and up if I gave it a quick direction change. I didn't notice this at all when I first did the tree swaps. It was way worse with a worn rear tire. My friend was also riding it and doing a quick lane change at around 75 when we were on a trip, got a severe head shake too. I put a steering damper on about a year ago and still didn't like it. You know how it is when you have something stuck between your teeth and you can't leave it alone? Anyway, I put the 2008 forks on a few months ago and have been really pleased with the results. I had the money at the time to do it ... sure don't now ;-( I am a pretty aggressive rider. Glenn |

Thanks for all the info, I like the idea of a bit lower bars, I think i'll keep my trees and give up on the 08 ones, ill try some little changes and give them a try and i'm sure at some stage i'll get to the point i need to. |

I did it (swapped 2006 for 2007's - first thing I did on the bike) and noticed no difference while riding up to 110 (not gone beyond that long enough to do anything but pee) - in the garage there is a difference I like. |
