I'm sure this has been covered before...and I can grab a tape measure as soon as I'm done with some file-transfer stuff to the new laptop, but does anyone know the loading length of an XB12X? Trying to figure out if it will fit into a 6'4" truck bed with the gate up...and I suspect the Uly is the longest of my bikes (95 S2, 98 S1W, 01 M2L, and 09 CR being the others). | ||

Keep in mind you can put the front tire in a corner, and run the bike diagonally for those extra few inches. | ||

I just thought of something, the bikes only plus 2" ... let some air out of the tires. That might work in a pinch if you can't go diagonal. | ||

The opposing school says to leave it up as a bubble of air circulates back there and... I don't know. I tuned them out by then. It's a pickup. You're getting crappy mileage one way or the other. 13.5 MPG is better than 12.72 MPG!!! LOL. | ||

which is why it'll be a diesel... and, don't make me bring up the mythbusters where they not only did real-world testing up-versus-down, but also 'water tunnel' testing showing the bubble that forms in the bed. but nate's right - it's a truck. it serves a purpose. for fuel mileage i'm having fun driving my old turbocar again (until i can bend/flex enough to ride the motorcycles again anyway). | ||

No boost gauge? Boooring!  FWIW, I get 25-27 mph in a 2001 Saab 9-3 through the mountains pulling a Uly on a cheap harbor freight trailer. I have the perfect truck... an F150 that belongs to a neighbor that works from home. I can use it when I need it, don't have to feed it when I don't. Best of all, it even has a "remote summon" feature. Dial a number and say "Ed, the KLR-250 blew up again" or "some corolla tried to kill me" and 30 minutes later, it finds me, bearing ramps, and if I have a broken pelvis it will even load the bike for me. Best truck ever. In return I feed it fluids (gas for the truck when I use it, and a keg of Fosters every year for the owner). Best truck ever! For the rest of the time, the trailer | ||
