Hi,
Been gone from the forum for a while, and glad to be back. I have an 06 Uly and recently the trip counter keeps resetting, and the time will not stay set. I put in a new battery at the last service, but the problem is continuing. I took the flyscreen off to look to see if any connections were loose, but everything looked fine. I took the seat off and double checked the terminal connections and those looked good as well. Any one had a similar problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

Are the battery terminals tight? I have seen this with loose connections at the battery. Also have seen the ground behind the fuse panel cause that issue as well.

Yep, Checked the battery terminals. I will check the ground behind the fuse box, that's one I hadn't looked at. Thanks.

There are some wires that ground to the steering head. That might be where your electrical gremlin is.

It's located behind the flyscreen.

I removed the flyscreen, then removed the three bolts that hold the headlights (two on the sides and one on the bottom side of the fender), then let the headlights hang to get access to that ground.

The last time I was around that area I roughed up the ground and the connectors with sandpaper and put dielectric grease as a preventative measure.

I'm having the exact same issue. Let me know what you find out. This bugs the crap out of me and haven't found the solution yet.

Djohnk is right. That ground has been reworked by many on this site. They look ok but when you wiggle them they break contact in the wire right at the crimp of the eyelet. Many of us have redone these wires by connecting them together and soldering them into one 16 gauge wire. This adds extra length so you can curl the wire to take up vibration. Also, on the new eyelet, use heat shrink tubing and cut it long. Shrink only the area over the eyelet crimp. Leave the rest "unshrunk" and it will act as a shock absorber so the wire doesn't work harden and break again.

I had the same problem. It would reset when starting the bike.

It turned out to be a weak battery. A new one fixed the problem.
