Noticed my seat is rubbing on the left ecm connector and I do have the block. Looking for relocation ideas. I know people have done it but I am looking for pics if you got them. Thanks |

Since I'm currently messing with this issue, here ya go: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/628590.html I did similar to the pictures, but it seems I may be dealing with a separate issue since my shiny new ECM does not seem to get me back in the saddle...... |

I did just what Raven did (see the first page of the link that Ulyranger posted) but I zip tied a section of a gun cleaning mat around the ECM and the wiring harness that's lying on top of the ECM. The gun cleaning mat is maybe 2mm thick, has a rubber backing and the top is oil absorbant fiber. A piece of a car's floor mat would work equally well, I'd think. |

Not to thread-jack, but if you are contemplating replacing the OEM ECM under the EPA emissions warranty, I found out something interesting recently: Background: I have an '07 X with ~11,000mi and a bad OEM ECM that will make the fuel pump cycle repeatedly if wiggled with the key and kill switch in the on pos. IF it cranks with the OEM ECM, a wiggle of the ECM will shut the bike down. Approached the local H-D shop to inquire about having my faulty (cracked black connector) OEM ECM replaced under the EPA warranty period guidelines (look in your owners manual for more info-- 5 years/18,xxx miles). The service guy seemed open to the notion (I stopped in wihtout the bike while out running errands to ask about it). He said he would have to do some research in to the job as the part number on my original OEM ECM comes up with a designation of pending obsolete or some such other wording that implies, right or wrong, that the item is nearly out of circulation. He asked if he could have a few days to do some research and then get back with me. He was 'concerned' that there may not be avail ECMs. We'll see... I did the ECM relocation after using the above cited thread; good starting point for those worried about such things. I used Motorbike's (thanks again Al) little doohickey mount plans for the move. I just installed a new Erik Buell Racing race ECM. My 08XT has the comfort kit installed and I promptly found the front ECM bolt to be frozen and difficult to remove. Once removed, I wrapped the new ECM with a few layers of silicone foam rubber and placed it below the stock brackets. No chance of seat damage and easy to replace. |

Thanks for the help. As soon as I posted that I figured out that was the best spot but it is good to see others have used the same spot with success. Thanks again |
