Back around 2002 I asked if a Buell could hit 50K without any major engine work as that's my minimum limit.
Many people chimed in and nearly all of them said no.
My 2006 Ulysses (affectionatly dubbed the Useless) is at 49,870 or thereabouts which was close enough for some fluid changes.
Oil used is 15/50 Mobil 1 and I change it around every 4500-5000 miles, oil filters are usually Purolator as I don't wish to give the MoFoCo any money.
I'd say 85% of the miles are done solo with lots of highway riding (ugh!) as my commute is 500 miles/week. Lots of squared-off tires.
Here's an abbreviated service log if anyone is interested.
It seems like just the other day I was uncrating it!

1/28/06 - 2 miles
Race kit, Lightning bars, throttle & clutch cable

6/6/06 - 4500 miles
American Sport Bike carbon fiber air scoop

8/18/06 - 7000 miles
New front rotor, hardware, pads

9/22/07 - 10,000 miles
New front isolator

4/28/09 - 21,000
New low beam bulb

7/4/09 - 23,000
New throttle body, seals

8/1/09 - 25,500
Ferodo brake pads

9/18/09 - 27, 868
SKF 6006 wheel bearings (rear), SKF 6005 wheel bearings (front)

4/7/10 - 32,000
New clutch cable

4/22/10 - 33,200
New cooling fan

7/3/10 - 39,000
New low beam bulb

10/1/10 - 42.628
New oil cooler

4/19/11 - 46,000
New low beam bulb

7/28/11 - 49,730
New ECM

The clutch cable was my fault for not greasing the barrel and it crusted into place.
The last two low beam bulbs are just cheap-o car ones, not heavy duty ones for motorcycles.
The Ferodo pads cured the front brake pulsing - good deal.
Right now it has some popping issues which I think is because the Buell Race Muffler has no more packing in it - it's not an intake leak - and the rear head gasket looks like it's weeping a bit as are the PCV valves.
I'll post a pic or two when I clean it up; it's thunderstorm season here at the moment.
All in all, this has been a great bike with a few very aggravating bumps along the way.
Here's to the next 50K!

Might want to try a set of Shinko Ravens' for that commute. I got nearly 10k out off them. And the center tread still had a couple thousand miles left.

The Shinko Ravens are wonderful tires they wonder all over the road, but they are cheep. First rear was down to wear bars in 3,200 miles the second has 3,000 miles and still has 2K to 3K miles left in it. Will be switching to Road Pilot 3 when the Raven is down to wear bars.

Congratulations, but BEWARE! Shortly after I hit that milestone on my '06 Uly I had the infamous deer strike and no more Uly...

We wanna see you double that mileage for your next update.

Luckily the Amish have eaten most of the deer around here.
It's the cars that are the menace in these parts. The drivers from York to Harrisburg are homocidal pinheads.
I've been using Conti Force (the sport touring ones, not the sport ones) and I get over 12K on the rear. They're pretty good but I'd prefer Michilins for corners. The Contis are made in Korea, of all things! How comforting...
Thanks for the kind words, I'll double it God willing and the creeks don't rise.
Left fork seal is starting to look a little weepy, piece uh crap...
It's time to change the fluid out, anyways, and I'll be sticking in the later springs. Hunka junk...
Gonna pop in new rear bearings next tire change, flippin' Useless...
I actually love this bike despite what I may say about it.

I had no idea that the Amish hunted.

I think that they do it secretly at night.

I'm just kidding, I honestly have no idea about the Amish but there really are very few deer in this area which is a good thing. They were everywhere up in the Poconos - you'd look out your window and there would be 5 on your front yard.
I like deer as much as the next person but not when I'm on the road.
That's where a loud exhaust pays off as it gives them enough warning so they don't panic at the last second and run in front of you.

True about loud pipes with deer.

I also have a personal theory that deer are wired to process speeds of up to 35 pretty well but not above... so I ride about 35 in deer areas, when practical.

Probably not. That's the weekend before the semester starts at UNM and I need to get my brain ready for action.

Of course attending the rally would likely be just the thing...

50,091 miles 8/11/11

Leaking r/h fork seal

The next 50,000 miles is off to an inauspicious start.
Good thing I can do my own service work.
