All you experts out there...... I will be getting to Ocean County Harley in about an hour and it will take me about an hour and a half to get there. The bike is being towed for $110.00 after coverage. I wanted to know if anyone here can provide threads that relate to oil pumps and fuel pumps for the 09 specifically so that I can let the service providers know what might be the problem. My bike died Saturday and it has been loosing oil. 800 miles since the last fill up of oil to low. I tried to search a few times this week but can't seem to locate the threads. tanks for your time, I appreciate it.

Chris- sorry about your troubles.

AFAIK there are no issues with the 09 oil pumps, certainly nothing that would result in high oil usage. The dealer shouldn't have a problem diagnosing that as anything that would cause it would not be Buell-specific.

I believe there have been a few bad fuel pumps that usually manifest as repeatedly blowing fuses.

Good luck.

I don't think there's a thread for it, but Buellnick in Albuquerque had an XB that was sumping oil and nobody could figure out where it was going. I'm 95% sure Santa Fe Harley got it fixed. Might be worth a call to see what they know about it. Josh is the service manager and Scott is the Buell tech.

Well i drove up and got the bike. Blown fuel pump fuse and replaced fouled plugs. (I checked the fuse three different times). Next time I will Have a few extras with me and change it even if looks OK. As far as the oil, they called and said that they wanted to give an oil change because it looked dirty and that they will be able to see how much comes out. I told them not to and that I will change myself. No compression test or leakdown test.

I changed the oil. 2.5 quarts in the hole and filled up the filter before screwing it on. Rode around, checked oil on stand, low not on the xxxxx. Add more. recheck. on the third X. Ride 12 miles. Come back. Below the last X. Add more. recheck, now on the middle X. Not over flowed into the air box either.

Chris- are you checking the oil hot (bike ridden at least 5 miles), idling, and on the side stand on a level surface? (I think it's a good idea to have the front wheel straight too.) A lot of 08-up XB owners found out by trial and error this is the only way to get consistent oil level readings on these bikes.

If you put 2.5 quarts in it, and check it like this, whatever it shows on the dipstick is FULL for your bike. Don't add more oil unless it goes lower than this under these conditions.

I did not have the bike running while I checked it. Everything else yes. Oh and thanks Hugh I appreciate your time, I will check it running next time after a healthy warm up and of course on my concrete floor in my garage as always.
