A friend of mine is getting this pinging noise when the weather is really hot and the bike is running fast with the hot engine, what is the answer to this, the bike is a 07 with the race kit and a catch can.

Thanks.

The manual, and the sticker on the frame say to use 91 minimum, if all that is available to you is 98, I would retard the timing a bit to compensate. Not sure how much a couple octane will matter but I would retard the timing just to be safe.
I have an 07 also and run 91 no alcohol and have never had a problem.
Mike.

If it has a high idle too, reset the TPS and AFV. If the TPS "zero" point is off, the rest of the timing curve will be off throughout the rev band and can cause pinging.
