I was thinking too hard today. Then it came. I was making it too heavy, too complicated, just plain TOO. So, here is what I came up with;
I drew pics for a while.
Here are the parts.
With the holes drilled and it assembled.
Copy at your own risk. |

A foreign country right in our own back yard. Though they are an interesting addition to the gene pool. Hope they do an 'AX Men' vs "Swamp People" series soon, refereed by the 'pawn' stars . |

John, it could be simply because you have not lived in the south for many years. I grew up in NW Pa where we did not have an accent. I did not understand anyone at first when I moved to Florida, I was there for fourteen years where accents were watered down 'cep for them crackers. Then I moved to Tennessee eleven years ago where pure accents abound. I do not speak French but I can interpret Lusan' swamp speak pretty good. It is not unlike barefoot toothless tobacco packed Tennessee speak that we hear in convenience stores around here. |

"CHOOT 'EM LIZBETH!" -Troy Landry Only one thing I liked better than the patois was the food. Spent a buncha time in Lafayette and Broussard. Could get fat fast there! Vern, the official term for convenience store 'bar-foot' black feet is "Jiffy Feet". Pro'lem is, I've not seen a Jiffy Store in 20 years. If you decide to unholster that on someone, make sure they are (1) older than 40 and (2) have lived in the south.
Ok, so I'm the responsible party for initiating the thread jacking so I'll take on the gettin' it back on track: I like the tripod that makes another tripod (front wheel, side stand, tripod) and could see where this would be a handy bit of improv in a parking lot, road side, etc. Does it sit firmly against the exhaust can without sliding? Hmmmmmmm |

I like this idea, especially if you could use some sort of cable like 7873jake suggested. If it could be designed so the cable could be removed then the "jack" would roll up and pack in a small space. A nice platform on top would be great too. |

Here's my jack, simple and effective. Plus it doubles as storage.

That works fine as long as long as you don't forget a tool you need in it. The ties are 5/16ths. The other designs had hinges and jack screws and one of them was aluminum triangles hinged together with removable pins and a bolt to draw the last hinge closed. Like I said,"Overthink". |

Ratbuell, Brush that muffler with permatex anti-seize and then spray with black enamel. Really works nice. Steel wool the rust off first though. |

Just a thought, but if you used different diameter tubes, you could disassemble the thing, and nest the tubes inside each for a really compact setup. Just need to work out the zip-tie thing. No matter what, I like it. Thanks! |

Metra, if I had come up with something as novel as your suggestion (and your sugg is PURE $$$, lets be clear), my wife would have looked at me and said "look how smart you are when you aren't on crack". I'm not on crack but its easier to claim that than it is for her to find out the truth.... |
