I could really share some stories regarding my experiences trying to sell my beloved Uly on craigslist, but I'm thinking the experience is universal no matter what you are trying to sell. I've had mine for sale for about 6 months and only 3 people have been interested (turning out to be flakes). That being said, who wants to buy my 06? It's only got about 5500 miles on it. Check out my CL link for photos and more info: http://reno.craigslist.org/mcy/2411743606.html Thanks! |

Nice looking bike. My only advice would be to put a price in the ad. Then people can decide ahead of time whether they are interested in paying what you are asking not calling and playing phone tag or bargaining over the phone. I sold a Jeep on Craigslist in 2008(mistake selling the Jeep) and well over 50% of the callers were low ball offers and flakes so don't get discouraged. Good luck |

Agree on the price. If it's a fair price it'll go quick. My wife decided she didn't want to continue her riding instruction, so I sold the 08 Blast I bought for her to learn on. I looked on ebay and craigslist, and found that similar bikes were selling in the $2500 range. I put it on the Seattle craigslist for 2500 and it was gone in a day. |

I've actually had a fair amount of interest in mine, and a couple of reasonable offers. Unfortunately for potential buyers (and fortunate for me) I'm in no rush/ crush to sell- so I know what I want for it, and what I think is fair. This has left a couple of people waiting me out on their best offers. Lucky for me, it's also given me the ability to turn down one D-Bag (who met my price) just because I flat didn't like him, and thought he would give Buellers a bad name- not to mention I was sure I'd be hearing back from him constantly if anything went amiss in the next 50,000 miles! Patience is the big thing. It's a great bike with a decent following- you'll find someone who wants it. -Mike |

Of course you know the real problem is that you are going up against Buells like this on the Reno Craigslist: http://reno.craigslist.org/mcd/2472531985.html That is a total sin, and a waste of a good Buell. (smile) My luck on Craigslist has been great selling boats. What I would suggest is the following: 1. Assume buyers know what they are looking at, Don't educate them on what a Buell is, but what condition yours is in. Mileage, Tire life, maintenance performed, address common '06 issues etc. 2. Get good photos that show details. Wear items like tires, belt, seat. 3. Use video when possible. Take a video and post it to Youtube, link it in the ad 4. Clean it up as good as you can and take the photos with all options (your journey bags) 5. Your bike is all black, so get some better lighting that shows the engine and wheels. 6. Post a price, heck post a high price if needed. Narrow the field of callers, or let them know if they are in the ballpark. 7. If you can't post what you want on Craigslist, create a free blog and link it to the ad on CL. Then you can make it as nice as you want it to be. Here is one of mine. http://biffdotorg.blogspot.com/p/boats-for-sale.ht ml Good luck! |

And don't tell them there are not for short people. I have a 29" inseam and have logged over 70,000 miles on two different Uly's and have never had a problem with the seat height...... |

If you were inclined to take another photo, I think the bike looks better with the side cases on. That way you don't have to look at that ugly after thought hardware, IMHO. |

I believe the larger part of hard to sell now is the economic recovery.....did I say recovery.....I meant the bottom of the ditch so many people are still stuck in. I know of three people who would love to have it at that price.....but they just cannot at this time. I have been finding that most items at a cost over $1000 are harder than ever to sell because the easy financing is not there like it used to be. I sold a car for $14,000 one time where the guy just put it on two credit cards rather than bother with the banks directly. |

I agree about the economy. There is alot of nice stuff for sale right now. People are hording cash and banks aren't lending unless you have perfect credit. Keep a fair price on it and the right buyer will turn up. Just going to have to wait it out. |
