If you search on "Breather Reroute", you'll find a ton of links. (probably too many!) I think this is the one you were looking for: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/422128.html?1229268121 I've done the re-route and it was really simple. If you have some 3/8" hose and a barbed tee, you can have it done in 20 minutes. If you want to rig up a catch can with a air filter, it may take a bit longer. IF you have any questions, post them back to this thread. Many of us have done this mod and will probably have more advice than you want! |

I never saw the purpose of a filter and catch can - I just ran the hose from the T connection (up top) down next to the muffler outlet. Be sure to check your rear EGR valve (or whatever its called) fitment - my valve grommet was worn/loose and caused the plastic valve (atop the rocker cover) to flop around and oil leaked out onto my rocker cover and into my fan, etc. - it looked like a bad rocker cover gasket, but wasn't...just a thought. The catch can prevents oil spray from getting on the rear tire. The filter prevents dirt from being drawn back into the engine (unlikely on a ULY consider the length of the breather hoses. Mark AZ |

""The filter prevents dirt from being drawn back into the engine"" Actually the filter acts as a vent pipe, to keep everything flowing down the tubing and into the catch can - think plumbing sys. vent pipe. Air (w/ a slight water vapor and oil mix) is always flowing outward. See LINK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K62Ivy8fumM&feature =related The amount of sludge is inconsequential - it accumulates over time, sure, but in real time its nothing significant. . |
