MY VERY FIRST BIKE EVER WAS AN 08 XB9 AND I HAVE TO SAY I AM HOOKED ON BUELL FOR LIFE JUST PICKED UP AN 06 ULY AND MAN WHAT A BIKE I COULDNT BE HAPPIER SO FAR.I WAS LOOKING OVER THE BIKE THE OTHER DAY AND NOTICED THE VOLTAGE REG HAD BEEN MOVED FROM THE FRONT OF THE BIKE TO THE RIGHT SIDE PANNIER RACK ITS OUT OF THE WAY JUST DIDNT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD DO THIS ANY IDEAS?
That sounds like a first. Maybe the other owner had a regulator hit by a rock or maybe he thought his engine would get more air. The thing is finned for cooling so make sure it is getting breeze through it. 06 is a great bike, enjoy and take care of it.
Back in the day.....say five year ago.....there was a great bit of discussion about them thar regulators and their failures that seemed to becoming common. This of course was before the discovery of the now famous "77" connector failure that led to many a stator/regulator failure.
Some excitable adventurous folks took to jumpin' up to do anything to prevent failure of their parts on their beloved early Ulys(I have one myself). Therein, you'll find why the effort to move said regulator to a "cooler" spot on the machine. They was a thinkin' that that there air flow at the front was blocked up enough to let it get too hot.
