Can someone point me to where the diagnostic plug is? Is it the one that comes out of the left hand side side of the bike from under the seat with a black rubber plug? Also which pins are 1&2? I don't see any numbers on them. I want to see If the ecm has stored any codes. Mines an 09 by the way.
Thanks!

Yes that is the plug. As for 1 and 2, I couldn't tell you off hand, so I will kindly say RTFM, it has the pinouts : )

I'll have to dig up an old post, with it for you.

Looking at the pins with the lock tab at the top, pin 1 is top right and pin 2 is bottom right. If there are no codes then the light will flash rapidly a few times, pause and repeat until you turn the key off. I thought it was only supposed to flash 6 times but hey, 6...10... who's counting?

OK. I must be blind, I can't find the plug on my bike. I'm getting an intermitent CEL and would like to try and figure out what's going on. What is the procedure for retrieving stored codes? THANKS

Here ya go:

Only things to note, that post is old and does not have all the trouble codes of the newer bikes, so consult your service and electrical manuals.
