Hi all,

I bought the RHS inner and outer scoop for my Ulysses, but didn't order the bolts.

My local HD dealer can;t work out what size they are, but they're coming up as about £7 each - that's over $10 a bolt!

To secure the 2 halves of the scoop together I need 4.

So I tried to order some myself, and the installation PDF for the rider comfort kit seems to say I need 1/4-20 bolts.

I ordered 10 (the minimum I could, but only £5 or about $8) 1/4-20 x 3/4" bolts but they're too big.

To save any more wasted money and time, can anyone with the kit tell me what bolts I actually need?

Thanks in advance!

Don't y'all got home hardware stores like here in the US? Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, local hardware stores? Take the piece with the nuts in it in to measure a fit.

If you don't have access to a thread gage or a tap set to size the hole you could buy a few little bags of ten each of close looking sizes then return the un-used ones.

I'm sorry but mine were a pain in the ass to start in their holes so I don't want to disassemble one to measure it, or I would.

Unfortunately our hardwares stores don't really have the same breadth of stock as US stores (or like back home in Sydney) and certainly don't stock imperial fixings... It's all metric over here

I've ordered some #10 UNC bolts, as they're the next size down from what I ordered. Fingers crossed.

Have your dealer get the instruction sheet for the rider comfort kit from H-D. All kits list part numbers for the individual pieces, and sometimes the size and thread pitch of fasteners are listed.

I just found something in the 2010 parts book. On page 200 and 201, there is a section titled hardware list. This section lists all the bolts, screws, washers, etc. by part number and has a description of each by size, length, composition, etc. The screws shown are AA0406.11CZB which is a 1/4-20 x 3/4 torx truss head in bright zinc finish, and AN1005.3FSS which is a 10-32 x 5/8 button head stainless screw. I think the second number is the one you want, but it only shows 3 required.

Yep - just looked again at that tonight and realised I saw the 1/4-20 reference and somehow managed to completely miss the 10-32 ones!

What an idiot!

Thanks folks
