I currently have an 08 with the factory mounts and outdoorsman side bags. I have two questions the first dictates the need to answer the second.
Will the HB bags fit the outdoorsman brackets?
If they do fit would a trade for the HB bags be straight across or is one set worth more than the other?

I am prepared for all responses, funny, cynical, insulting and even those full of useful information.

Both bags are HB bags : ) The outdoorsman are the HB Juniors, and the Big ones are HB Journeys. Yes the journey's will fit the outdoorsman/junior racks. The journey's will be "turned" around on the racks you have as the D ring is on the back of the racks you have.

juniors: http://www.hepco-becker.de/_eng/frameset.php

journeys: http://www.hepco-becker.de/_eng/frameset.php

Not sure if one set is worth more than the other. I do have the journey's and would think about about a straight up trade for the juniors.

Hope this helps a little : )

I have a pair of Journeys in excellent condition but prefer the more compact look of the Outdoorsman / Juniors. Would consider possible trade. Is some sort of turn signal modification required if I mount outdoorsman? I'm in Southern Calif.

You probably can't get a helmet in the junior, right?

No helmet is going to fit in the outdoorsman side, only the top case. The outdoorsman comes with a bracket that relocates the rear signals is it correct to assume the Journey work with the stock signal configuration?

Journey installation did not require any turn signal relocation.

The journey cases have a little pocket that gives clearance for the stock turn signals.

Journey cases sit further forward on the motorcycle, so no signal relocation is needed.

There are cutouts on outdoorsman bags too.

Put an outdoorsman case on a journey rack, and you can't use the passenger footpegs because the cases HIT them. They don't rub...they HIT.

Put a journey case on an outdoorsman rack, and you DO need the signal relocation kit because the rack moves the bag 2" towards the back of the bike.

This is not hearsay - I have done it with my own two hands when I had an XP at my disposal and parked it next to my X with journey bags, and swapped them back and forth.

And, there IS an outdoorsman side bag that will hold a helmet, but you have to get it from HB. It was not in the Buell kit, but they do have one. It is either 42 or 45 liters as opposed to the ones Buell used which are 30L.

They all interchange. I have a HB 50L top case on my bike now so I can stow two helmets inside if I need to.

WOW. Thanks for that.
I was actually thinking of getting outdoorsmans.
Any word on if the Gobi bags bump into stuff?

the smaller(32 liter) Gobis put out by KTM will work for sure on the journey racks. I still haven't found someone who has put normal(40+ liter) Gobis on our bike to see how much interference from the foot pegs you might get. Anyone?
