I can't tell you how long a halogen bulb will last when it is used as a blinker but I probably will be the first to know. Some time ago I converted a couple of Buell turn signal bodies into halogen spot lights but was not impressed with their ability to light up the road but they sure light up the front of the bike. I put them in a drawer. I've resurrected them as turn signals and will electrically hook them up using relays to carry the main current. If they burn up real soon I'll just pull a couple of Buell turn signals out of my spares drawer and replace these. Anyway while they last they really ought to get attention when they blink. Disregard the photo timestamps because I don't have a 2004 ULY. It was still a gleam in Erik's eyes.

I see you have the same problem I do, you have the faster black model. I too had to add brighter lights, due to the fact we ride close to the speed of light. |

Not much response given this but I finally finished hooking them up this morning, electrically speaking that is. I used a separate relay for each light and just used the blinker voltage outputs to close each relay. These 55 Watt babies work great and they can be seen way better than the stock units. The rear signals are stock and will remain that way because these 55 watters would be blinding to a following car at night. I really like this mod mucho. |

Can you post some video when you get it finished? I am curious how well it works, my concern would be people mistaking it for a strobing headlight and not making the connection that you are going to turn. |

Froggy, They are finished. My camera can take video but I'm not sure exactly how to get it to play here on Badweb. Do I have to first download it to youtube? That is something else that would be new to me but I'm sure that it can't be too difficult. They work at exactly the same blink rate as the normal turnsignals and look like turnsignals except exponentially brighter while they blink. |

The easiest way is to upload it to youtube, it does the all the hard stuff like encoding and hosting. Youtube lets you pick the file (possibly even directly from the camera). It is very easy to do, but you will have to make a youtube/google account if you don't have one yet. |

Thanks, I looked at youtube and it appears to be very easy to do. I'll make the video tomorrow and give the youtube thing a try. |

The 2010 ULY turnsignals are not amber but are clear or white. Maybe their is some spray tint I could hit them with. They don't seem to heat up since they blink. |

Nice EG - I may try that with 35W, seems the turn signals I have get washed out when all 4 front lights are on... Especially since I removed the extensions and the signals are closer in.
