I was in a Harley dealership today (I know I know) and attempted to buy type E fork oil when the guy says I can't use that for a Buell. I was sure I used type E before, now I'm not so sure. What should I use?

I'm not home so I can't look in my manual.

My XT forks have 15W Yamalube in them, and they STILL haven't blown up.

http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/lowspeed.htm

This site has a lot of information on suspension in general and suspension fluids in particular. Harley E is 39.2 Cs@40C. I ended up using Silkolene 7.5 which is 37 cs. Silkolene and Redline have a much higher viscocity index which means temperature changes have a much smaller effect on the viscosity.

Probably doesn't make that much difference on the Uly forks, but I use it in mtb forks as well. Going from summer to winter can make a pretty big difference.

Also supports my habit of buying as little from HD as possible.

Also notice the huge difference in vis between different brands marked with the same "wt"
