I finally got it on my 07 ULY! No more pulsing! Now question for you guys and gals who already have the 6mm rotor. What type of brake pads are you using with it. And if you have dual compound tires what brand are you using and how do you like them? July 4th week I get to swap the triple trees out and new tires and brake pads too.

EBC HH pads on mine.

Yes, the 6mm rotor is "all that".

EBC HH pads, keeping te mounting hdwr clean and using the rear brake to hold the bike at stops has corrected the pulse for me. I do like the HH pads. I have used stock, Lyndahl Golds, some unknown pads and the HH. In order of how I liked them:
HH- good bite, pretty close to stock "feel", no deposit issues
Stock- I like the feel, but had deposits
Unknown- less bite, more brake dust, but no deposits
Lyndahl gold- wooden feel (felt like how our rear brakes feel...but up front!), lost the stock bite, and was the worst of all 4 for deposits. I gave them away.

EBC HH's for me too. The 6mm rotor is the bomb, especially if you install it with the Erik Buell Racing mounting hardware kit. I installed mine around a year ago and it still brakes great.

BTW- I noticed on the new Erik Buell Racing website store that they now list a 6mm "finned" rotor as well as the 5mm variety. AFAIK, that's new. You used to have a choice of a 5mm finned or 6mm plain.

Lyndall gold pads on mine. Very progressive feel, not abrupt at all. It feels a little less aggressive, but still no problems doing two finger stoppies (into a Corolla). So if you can get used to the "less aggressive" feeling of them, you actually have much better control and can probably stop as fast or faster in nearly all circumstances.

For tires, the Syncs served me really well on the XB9SX, but got eaten quickly on the Uly. I have a set of PR2's in the garage waiting to try next. I'm expecting more milage out of them then the syncs.

Oh, I forgot to mention I installed Michelin PR3's about 900 miles ago. So far, I like them a lot. I haven't had them in serious twisties yet but they seem to stick at least as well as the Syncs and they're wearing noticeably better. Turn-in is different from the Syncs (I can't exactly say how), but I adapted pretty quickly.

I've had Gold's fade on my Uly. Suddenly. During ResRide last year. Personally..I wouldn't recommend them on a heavier bike like a Uly...but that's just me.

I still run 616s on the Uly because (like on the way home tonight) I do a lot of dirt.

I have had PR2's on the S2 for about 7k miles and they look new. Great handling.

I have had PR3's on the S1W for...oh...300 miles or so. TOTALLY transformed (in a good way) that bike.

Now...if only someone would do a dual-compound with a "knobby" tread pattern like the 616.....

I gots mine.....an they cannot have it back!

After last Buelltoberfest where a few of us had a fun spirited ride that found me cranking it on Blastulys, I really loved that it had a smooth front brake.

I had gotten used to suffering with it on the Uly. To that end HD should have been ashamed of themselves for not having a fix five years ago.

I put the Lyndall Golds on there and I understand the comments about it feeling "wooden". Given that, it stops so smooth and what has to be quicker regardless of feel.

I'm loving it!

>>> I've had Gold's fade on my Uly.

Assuming that the pad material or pad is the cause of that fade is probably tough to support; way too many other possible factors unrelated to the integrity of the pads.

For example, fade is often a result of the combined effects of heat and moisture or air within the hydraulics of the braking system.
