Have been taking out the X1 on early morning rides but today I wanted to get off the pavement a little. No plan (which is strange for me) just headed towards Scappoose on Skyline. Just needed some coffee at some point. Had a close call early on when going around a 15mph corner a bit fast and the front end started to slide. Rolled off the throttle a bit and it stood up in time to save it. Not a great way to start the morning!
Rock Creek Rd

Tried to take some pix while moving this time. I usually have the big camera but today, took the point and shoot.

On Skyline Rd

Time for the fun to start!

Back to pavement to head into Scappoose. The coffee shop I wanted to go to was not there anymore so settled on some small shop. Ok coffee but no real food.
On the way

After that, I went the same way back up but noticed this cool looking side road and decided to see where it went.
Had to go around the gate:

About 1 mile in, it started to get pretty muddy and going uphill. Being short on time and not wanting to get too muddy today, I turned around. Next time!

Headed towards home, over Dixie Mtn road

Back to pavement and towards the house. Fun little ride but ran into too many dead ends on the gravel roads. Need to get a GPS on these rides.
Thanks
nate

Great pics, making me homesick! I'll be home from my current deployment in little over 2 weeks and I'll be up riding in that area just as soon as I can. Im ordering some Distanzia's for my Uly so I can partake in more of the off road trails we have the great PNW and around our area. Im also going to do a scouting trip for the WBDR. I want to do the first leg of that route and see how the Uly and the Distanzia's fair, if all goes well I plan on riding the WBDR while on R&R.

That's my motto too: "Wonder where that road goes." and knowing that you can take it on the Uly, unpaved or paved (though I would have skipped the mud too).

you were wise to stay out of that mud with the Uly and it's tires. Depending on how steep the hill got, you may not have made it to the top! Though hills generally dry out as you go up them, but not so in the woods like that. And plus, you were alone. It's a strength to know your weaknesses. Great pictures though. Made me jealous.
