Tried searching the forum for this, didn't find anything relevant.

Immediately after fueling up my 2007 there's a strange vibration at about 3900-4000 RPM and only at the exact RPM spot. Once I've rode about 20 miles the vibration goes away and doesn't return until I fill up again.

I can have my bags on (full of gear) or have the bags off. Doesn't make a difference.

Any ideas?

that's all those vegas chips you carry around reshuffling in your pocket after you pay the gas station attendant.

When mine had a vibration like that it was around 3500 rps and the cause was the front header stud.

Check the muffler straps. Mine did something similar when the front strap broke.

Can you feel the vibes standing still while holding the RPMs at the right speed?

Also check the bolts in all of the motor mounts, including the bar/cage on the left side and the ones under the air box cover.

Don't forget to lube the heim joints on the engine torque bars. I use used synthetic motor oil.

A problem that only appears when you fill the tank usually has something to do with venting. Check that the hose from the vent is still attached and not pinched anywhere.

Also try underfilling a couple of times. Keep an eye on the fuel level and stop when the fuel is still well below the bulkhead at the top of the tank. See if more airspace helps. Could be that the pressure valve in the fuel cap is not operating properly.

Perhaps you are just very sensitive to changes in vibration. A full tank is going to change the harmonics of the chassis when compared to a part full tank.

Okay so today I tried not filling her up as much as I usually do. (I hate stopping for fuel.) Basically stuck the gas nozzle all the way in, then stopped fueling when it quit. No more fuel after that.

No strange vibration.

Now here's the thing, it's 109 here today. I'd been riding all day, so my bike was good and hot. Could these have something to do with the heat keeping things flowing better than before?? Maybe the oil in the crank being more viscose than normal due to the heat??

The problem is with the vent. Is there a way for you to borrow a different fuel cap? Or put yours on someone else's XB?

Actually, no. Doesn't seem like any fellow XB's from Vegas on here. Can the fuel cap vent be cleaned?

I'd be happy to swap gas caps with you to see if it changes. I've been wanting to meet you anyway. Unfortunately I work this Sat. and have a kids Bday party on Sun. Maybe one of these evenings. I'm on the west side of town by Red Rock.

I live literally a mile from Red Rock. Alta and Rainbow essentially. I work all weekend myself, but I'm off friday next week.
