since my 1125 might not be back together before friday, i'm looking at taking my new-to-me 07 to summit point. it's wearing a fresh set of scorpion syncs, and has a D&D beneath other than that it is in stock trim any advice? ... i'm not liking the syncs, but i have allready paid up | ||

After running a rear Raven to the wearbars I would have to say that choosing them over the Syncs would be a downgrade. Thats just my opinion and for what it's worth I am not crazy about the Syncs either. | ||

I've a set of '009's on my Uly and use them shoulder to shoulder on the road without a bit of drama. I imagine the carcass temperature would get quite a bit higher on the track but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they stuck just as well as any other sport-touring tire. | ||

I've done a few trackdays on Syncs. No problem at all. Recall that Pirelli originally classed the Syncs as Supermoto tires. | ||

it's just that they aren't classed as a track tire. i dunno if they have changed the compound to be less track-worthy than they used to be, since they changed it's classification. or if it just that they have more tires in thier line-up/classification i guess it will do just fine. especially since it has a clutch that doesn't double as a squirt-gun .... okay it's not that bad, but you know what i mean | ||

i guess i could put the Dunflop GPA tire and blue rim on the front, but the rear GPA is mounted for my 1125. so i'd have to swap sprockets and get the tire re-mounted in the proper direction and balanced. i am pretty much running out of time, here. 1125 is at the stealership, and uly is still at the previous owner's house. still gotta 'get all my shit in one sock' for this track day | ||

Have you run the syncs? I personally have had two sets on buells and didn't care for them. They feel very neutral and vague to me. I'm way more confident on the scorp trails on the uly now. I like the conti road attacks on my STT much better too. The conti-motions stick like glue for a street tire but they die fast, I'd imagine the rear may last a track day. Plus they're cheap. | ||

Syncs were on my 03XB9SR when i bought it from the origonal owner in 07. despite that they were starting to crack, and were probably > 2 years old all ready, i rode it like i stole it. i didn't notice any ill-handling ... not that i would have noticed any. i barely knew how to take a turn, and i could never have 'out-ridden' the tires until maybe recently. i just don't wanna wipe-out cuz i skimped/overlooked something | ||

From the miles I've put on the uly, the only thing I've had to worry about are the low pegs. I've drug the pegs with Shinko 705s on it.  | ||

Since you have not ridden the bike at all, Syncs are a great choice of tire. You have not felt any different tires so you should be able to adjust to them just fine. These bikes come with a great suspension system on them and they are adjustable. Start with the book settings for your weight, try a couple of laps, adjust tighter - test, adjust looser - test, and so on. Write it all down. Every change is important even if it feels the same. Ask some of the faster guys at the track for suggestions on air pressure, corner entry, suspension settings, etc. It won't take long to see who knows what they are talking about. I ran several sets of Syncs, they are a great tire. I bet you toast the sides of them on a track day. They will hook up almost all the way to the rims. They came on my City-x and I switched my Uly to them. I probably would still be running them, but I like getting nearly double the mileage out of the Pilot Road II. I never had a problem with chicken strips on them on either bike. A couple of passes on the Dragon could feather the edges pretty good in street trim with all three bags at about fifty pounds of crap in them. I don't recall any time they ever slid out or gave an uncomfortable feel. | ||

I never had any worries from the Syncs when I rode the Uly at trackdays. Granted, I was riding the Uly at a slower pace than I run on my GSXR 750, but the Uly was a lot more fun. | ||

the hd tech 'kicked-in in the clutch' and got my bike banged out for me this morning. -AWESOME- but it was coming down to the wire, tho ... i made it to teh paddock about an hour befroe susnset. just enuff time to swap tires and brakes, and track-pre it. i guess the uly will have to wait until august to get on a track. i know the suspension is super-soft and i am not used to riding it yet ... thank you to everyone for thier input and advice. |
