Author Message   Jconly Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 01:54 am:        Everyone on this forum has been incredibly helpful so far.. thank you for all your help this far. Unfortunately, I'm back seeking more assistance. After finishing rebuilding my forks, and swapping my primary cover, I finally went to start her up. For some reason, my wheel is getting no power. When I let out the clutch lever and roll on the throttle.. the engine seems to rev just fine, but theres nothing to the wheel. I'm able to shift in and out of all gears, and the bike recognizes neutral. When in neutral, the bike rolls fine. When in gear, it will give SOME resistance... but still roll with just a little more effort. Honestly, I can't remember how it rolls with the clutch lever pulled (been a long day) Any ideas? I really just want to get this thing on the road again, it's getting nice out! I'm hoping I don't need to remove the primary again, and disassemble the clutch to inspect, but it's seeming that way. Hopefully someone here has a suggestion as to what's up. Thank again!   Jconly Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 04:21 am:        UPDATE: So, after searching, I couldn't initially find anything. Then, I read the post after this one. I figured hey, maybe I just screwed in the clutch retaining nut too far.. I don't ever recall the service manual noting to back it off a quarter turn or so. Left to go to the garage around 2am, and sure enough, that screw was TIGHT. Loosened it up a bit, gently tightened it, and backed it up 1/2 turn. Sure enough, the bike will move just fine now. Just got back from a little ride. When I had left, I had the clutch adjusted to pull just at the beginning of the lever pull. After riding for a short while, I noticed that this actuation point had moved back to much later. At 4:00AM I'm too beat to tackle this now, so I parked it. I'll check it out tomorrow to see what this may be.   Hughlysses Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 08:05 am:        Since you changed the primary cover, you need to go through the "major clutch adjustment" in the shop manual. Easy to do- just follow the instructions in the book.   Jphish Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 08:13 am:        What Hughlysses said...& do it in sequence - cable adjust 1st - then nut & spring thing. And dont forget the 3 clutch lever pulls to set ball/ ramp. This is a "by the book" proceedure. 10 mins. Get some sleep.   Uly_man Posted on Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 01:02 pm:        Yes thats the way. Screw the spring down and then insert the rod over the clutch nut. Grab the nut balls and push in with force. Use a 500IB torque bar to "nip em up" a bit.
