I may be moving on to other interests that will require a diversion of my financial priorities. Therefore, though I'm not there yet, I'm contemplating the sale of my Uly. I'm wondering if $7,000 would be a fair price for the package below. -09 Uly, perfect, never dropped - 17K miles -Tourateck Zega panniers -Givi Fehling Rack -Garmin Zumo GPS -HID high & low -PIAA 1100X 55W driving lights on Palmer light bar -Zero Gravity tall windscreen -Front & Rear axle sliders -Nearly New PR3's -Tall seat Extras -Low seat -stock wind screen -new belt -front & rear engine isolators -front & rear stock brake pads -Coreteck rear soft bag. -Buell tail pack -Ortlieb dry bag -Wolfman Rainier tank bag -many other nic-nacs Thanks. Any thoughts will be appreciated. |

Wow! Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights! You have a great sounding bike, hangetsu, and $7000. seems like a decent price for such a bike but the ULY re-sale market, due to fears/concerns with getting stuck with an expensive white elephant, the same fears/concerns prompting a lot of these sales, I'm sure, is not good. My opinion would be to keep, cherish, and enjoy your nicely equipped Uly and avoid possible regrets. What ever you decide though, best of luck. |

That's about exactly what I'd be willing to pay for what you have. I think you're in the correct ballpark. Wish I could justify having two of them in the garage. |

The price as equipped is more than fair, but you probably won't get it. Sell the bling and ride her naked. |

Itileman has it right. Sell the bling separately. It adds nothing to the selling price of the bike. The last bike I sold I got more for without all the farkles on it then I was able to get with. I sold the farkles piecemeal and got about $1000.00 for those. It wasn't crap stuff either, Rick Mayer saddle, high end highway pegs, Givi trunk etc. |

As others have said, the price is right but the market is wrong. Lets be honest here, where can you find a 2 year old dual sport oriented motorcycle with a grand plus of extras for a price like that??.....Answer: You CANT.... You cannot even find a Wee Strom for that price hardly and well truly they are half the bike the Uly is. I have been following Uly prices insanely close the last few months when I was debating on buying one again and unfortunately the market is Sh!t (for sellers). The 2 things that detract from your sale to someone in my opinion are the miles and lack of warranty. Yeah yeah yeah, we all know the Buells are dependable and for gods sake its an air cooled V-twin with an indefinite life expectancy but we as humans are flawed and play the "what if" game. I think its a fair price, but if you want to move it you have to have your pricepoint at the 5k-6k area. |

Chrisrogers3 is right...unfortunately! I WAS planning on selling my Uly but I like it much more than it is worth. So I am shopping for a stable mate for my beloved Buell instead. My thought is if (and when) parts take time to find, I will ride the backup. |

At the moment the WORLD is a buyers market and is great if you have a job or the money. I have had many bikes that I loved but sold on. The Uly is just something else. Its ugly, not fast and "out of the factory" it needs some sorting. On the other hand its the only thing that makes me smile once I jump on it. |

Stock bikes are worth more than modified ones. I know I wouldn't touch a bike that I can't get back to bone stock in a few minutes. Many times people will install "upgrades" that end up causing more problems, or take away functionality and looks. I see it happen all the time on here, people will butcher their bike by changing the luggage, bars, screwing around with the suspension, changing bodywork, changing gearing, and other things then they ask significantly more than the bike is worth. Custom paint really kills your market as now you need to find someone with similar taste in the paint. |

WOW......... That's allot of bike and extra's for 7K. I understand the fears of everything said above and "was" having the same thoughts. I'm now keeping it for a "long" time. I believe these bikes will become a very unique motorcycle in the market. From what i have researched, parts supply has been committed to a minimum of 7 years. So I'm not to worried about it. I was seriously looking the the Yamaha T. I just can'tget past all the systems and complexity of the bike. One very nice thing about the Uly's. Plain and simple yet get the job done in an outstanding way. |

Well, the only changes that fit into Froggy's concerns are the HIDs. If one wanted to change that back to stock, it would require the purchase of new headlight housings, or at least the back rubber covers. Otherwise, all other mods are in the form of bolt on accessories. The GPS is a dealer install, as is the luggage. All accessories are bolt on, bolt off and no changes to frame or bodywork have been made. I do appreciate all your comments though. I'm still not sure what I will end up doing, but your info helps me see what to look forward to if I do have to sell. Thanks. |

Froggy's right and I'm probably one of the guiltiest ones on the board with changes: soft luggage, bobbed front fender, black plastics, XB-9 gearing, voltage monitor, tires, bar risers, Acerbis hand guards with trimmed levers to fit, Galfer brake pads, spark arrestor, Touratech skid plate/oil guard/stone guard, mud flap, X peak, driving lights, fly screen mod, Palmer brackets, bar pads and down to the compass mounted to the windshield. I've essentially built a wooden shoe. I don't know that, at first glance, if it even looks like a Uly except for the muffler at the bottom. If I want to sell it as is, I'd need a Dutchman to come along. You can call me Hans. |

Alex, Don't be the next guy to sell and then wonder why you did after it's too late. First off, you'll be taken it up the wazoo, what with all the expensive extras you've sunk into that ULY. Sure, somebody else will be telling everyone within shouting distance what a great deal he snookered, all the while you're walking around like a guy that fell from a plane butt first onto a flag pole. |

Alex, If I had the extra to throw at another bike, I'd snap yours up as fast as I could get there. - But as so many have said, it's a buyers market! Also: EG+1. You are unlikely to ever buy a loaded bike near as fun and versital as the Uly for 7K. |

I'm in a similar pickle. Need a roof, something has to go and it looks like my Uly. I've been trying to sell but its obvious the market on used Uly's has been damaged by HD's Wandell. What gripes me is that he is one of 10 top CEo's that has made millions of dollars by laying off regular employees. He also went to the TARP window for free taxpayer subsidized loans. I'm glad HD is still in business, but with Wandell heading it up, I cannot see myself buying another HD product. Keith is worth millions now and part of that is at my expense. I really like my Uly but what a luv/hate relationship. The hate part is the artificial reduction in her value, the knowledge that a lot of HD workers are out of work, the taxpayer helped Keith to the trough, and I've been suckered. All of you know the luv part! Damn fine bike. Some how or another, I will get a new roof. In the meantime, the paradox of having such a great bike thats' not worth much in today's market disturbs me. It speaks volumes of the frailties of the buyers in the market. Perhaps they don't deserve a Uly, perhaps they'll get a steal on one. But after Wandell had a crack at my wallet, I don't want a form of double jeopardy in my personal finances. On the other hand, whoever gets the steal deal on a Uly has thrown away their money, also! I look at it like this. The Uly is worth what someone is willing to sell it for and what someone is willing to buy it for. If mine sells, great. Chances are I will buy another used one or a Tiger or a Vic. Who Knows. But Wandell has some money to blow! |

Conchop - You might want to consider taking a trade + some cash to move the bike, especially if the trade is more marketable and can be sold quickly for a decent price. (Message edited by itileman on May 19, 2011) |
