Went for ride today NW of Vegas. Found some fun twisty dirtroads. Working on my non-paved road skills.

Anybody know if these Scorpion Sync's are relatively puncture resistant? I was riding over some gnarly rocks at several points along the road, kinda made me nervous.

That looks packed compared to what I was on several weeks ago. 12 miles of fresh gravel does wonders when it's just FLAT riding, but I was going up and down hills, around 270 degree corners and having to stop mid descent due to a car in the road. It rattled me a little. Needless to say, I almost had to change my shorts when I got home! Never again, if I have the choice.....too much wear on my nerves!

I'd also consider putting on some barkbusters if you are planning on riding off road much. Save your (stock) mirrors and levers. Bar end mirrors will smash in to a 1000 pieces should you fall.

I've read in past threads that the Syncs do not have quite as robust a carcass as the D616. I can't say one way or another - I have been running a Sync front and D616 rear and have been doing lots of dirt/gravely/lightly rocky roads recently...believe me, I've been wondering too. So far, no problems.

I didn't like the front D616's feel on pavement ("swimming"), so I haven't gotten another one since the original stocker.

Happy to say no flats in my 7 years of riding (he says as he knocks wood).

Mnviking-

We were in the smokie mountains, and stayed at Copperhead in Blairsville. Did the dragon on Wednesday, and tooled around the north GA mountains on Thursday and Friday. Did the Wolfpen and some other badweb recommended roads. People who live near this area are extremely fortunate, such beautiful country, we always hate to leave. Stopped at "not-Dales" and drove by "not-T.W.O." Sad.

Topped the week off with a night out to see Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven with friends.

Will do a ride report with pics when we get back home and I have time. The hiccuping Uly X has put a crimp in our free time, hope it's an easy fix.
