Five years and 30k on the uly. Having bought her new in O6 to compliment the DRZ, I am still thoroughly satisfied. Hit the road today for the longest single day outing, over 650mi. Other bikes call out to me, the new Strada, Concourse and the newest BMR but I will be hanging with the Buell for practicality. Someday when time allows maybe a true touring bike will be added to the stable. For now though there is no other. |

<<<650? .....C'mon... I thought that too Rat, before my wreck. Could do iron butt miles on a KLR, with only aleave. Still could, but need something stronger. Even on my Uly 400 miles is my break point before I have to use norco's to keep from locking up. I still do 1000 mile days, but not like before. My wreck was two years ago this Aug. 24. I don't use norco's or even asprine on a daily basis when home. |

I know the feeling. Shattered both my legs 7/16/08, got almost 2 lbs of Ti in 'em now. Airports are less than fun. As for riding, though...standing on the pegs for a mile or so here and there gets the circulation going again, and ibuprofen on arrival makes sure I can move in the morning Worst part about my ride to Daytona this year, aside from having to turn around and head home the next day, was leaking rain gear. SC to FL in horrible downpours, my left boot was FULL of water. Grrr. |

After I did a couple of mod's on the bike to make it more comfortable, such as risers, comfort kit, Palmer windscreen & brackets, HID lights, and good riding pants I rode from Milwaukie, Oregon to Greybull, WY. 988 miles. I took a few breaks but the bike did awesome and really showed me that with the right setup the Uly can hang with anything out there. Oh dont forget iPod for music, the miles go by fast when your not thinking about them. |

I use to ride the long days but any more at 4:00 I start looking for a warm shower and a cold beer. Been there, done that, what's on tap? |
