Have one on order now for 08 XT. I also sprung for the 2010 rear wheel in black (more $) from the good people at American Sport Bike. AS last summer with wife and camping gear (at the GVWR limit) the bike had a vibration at 3k, very uncomfortable. Safety made the purchase of the rear wheel. Was looking at the Primary Gearing reduction Kit to push the RPM higher up and out of the zone. But it looks like more bang for the buck with the race ECB for Buell Racing. And anything that says Racing on it makes the cool bike factor go up.

installed mine today.... WOW!! what a difference!... no coughing at 3000 rpms. I even let it sit until it got cold and took it out again just to see if I could make it hack and cough... NOPE.. perfect... then the fuell light came on and I went home...

I am VERY happy
Can't wait to run a full tank thru it

Marauder, did your rear bearings actually fail, prompting you to purchase the 2010 wheel? Was that was causing your vibration? If your bearings failed, how many miles were on the bike at the time?
I have an 08 XT also and am a little concerned after reading your post. Thanks.

I did check with Erik Buell Racing info and the ECM I ordered last Sept for my 09 Uly (stock) is still the same calibration you are buying today. I just don't get a poster.

Lovin' my new Erik Buell Racing ECM!!!

@ Marauder & Motorbike -
Some (and I) have noticed a funky vibration when loaded near (or over) max vehicle weight, and seems to be due to compression of the suspension, and varies as the suspension flexes. To me it feels like the ribs on the belt being transmitted through the frame. There was a thread on this last summer, I think. I still took no chances and installed the 2010 rear wheel setup last year.

Balloyd what you described is normal and due to the suspension being maxed out.

Motorbike

I have an 09 XT with 34,000 Km. I had a high speed (for me) vibration at about 140-160 KM/Hr, and no vibrations at normal speeds. I ride solo and lightly loaded. My rear wheel bearings were failing. I went to the 2010 rear wheel.

Motorbike - Don't now if the bearings failed (yet) will find out when I take off the old wheel. Just purchased the 2010 wheel for the peace of mind. Looking at beefing up the rear shock for the load I ride at. I set my shocks to the max settings now when 2 up w/ gear. Surprised that the at the GVWR the is no head room on the shocks.

Okay I've been convinced to purchase the Erik Buell Racing ECM, setup for K&N & Drummer SS. Has anyone any experience with the 450 kPa XB FUEL PUMP REGULATOR? Erik Buell Racing says: Is your XB making big power? You'll want one of these regulators to take full advantage high fuel volume capabilities of the stock fuel pump. Recommended use is in combination with a programmable ECM. Typically required for larger than stock displacement engines. But does that mean It's just for internal Engine modification, or for Erik Buell Racing ECM and possible eternal Mods like Air intake and exhaust? I wouldn't think I could see much difference with it on simple external mods. Just wondering if anyone can elaborate? }

Installed the E.B.R. race ecm this morning.. WOW. What a difference. Took me no more than 10 minutes from start to finish for the install. Even the tricky front mounting screw was easy thanks to the many warnings on here about it. I just reached down next to the shock and kept it in place with my left hand while swapping ecms with my right.

The 08+ tps reset procedure made that a cinch, and the new ecm settled from 2000 rpm down to the proper 1050 after about 10 minutes of idling.. just like the instructions promised.

Well, I've ordered the ECM for my bike! I took Ourdee's advice and sold a piece of junk from my garage, which helps me justify this purchase.

Now the wait begins...

Has anyone looked at the fuel maps in ECM spy to see what was changed for the gains in the Erik Buell Racing ecm?

I currently run a Buell race EMC. I wondering if this ECM would be better and why.

I've now gotten a chance to take a few rides with the Erik Buell Racing ECM, and in my opinion, it is well worth the money.

No more stumbles at low RPM, very little surging although I did notice a little today at one point. It's now a pleasure to ride at below 3,000rpm, which is not something i could have said before. When I accelerate while sitting below 3,000, it just goes - no drama, no bucking. Low RPM and around town riding is MUCH improved.

This is a must have for those that commute or ride a lot in town with their Ulys.

I also have an '09 XT that I put the Erik Buell Racing ECM on. Much improved throttle response and performance. Well worth it. Just finished putting a Drummer SS muffler on it. Still ran good, but had very slight popping. Sent the ECM back for a retune ($35) and got it reinstalled this past weekend. The newly retuned ECM cured all the popping and still had the great response. I also consider the race ECM a must have. Sounds like a Harley and handles like a sportbike!!! Sweet!

Installed my new ECM on Saturday. Did the tps reset and also the IAC and was idling great. Took it out and noticed that the "cough" no longer was there. So far so good. 2 miles down the road I stopped to fill it up. Go to restart and it won't fire. Quick tps reset and it fires up. Had me very nervous. Have not started it since but am curious if anyone else has had this problem? It was running for approx 20min before the stop although most of that was idling in the driveway. 08 XT if that matters.

I recently installed the Erik Buell Racing ECM on my 08 XT which is 100% stock except for the breather re-route. No problems at all yet except I do still notice a little surging around town. No more cough though. It runs on fast idle for a few minutes when started cold then drops down to 1K RPM. The biggest change I have noticed is the fan program, as the fan now runs at any speed 15 mph or above. I do like the silence after shutting the key off though. No more explaining what that noise is to the uninformed non-Buellers. Also, it seems that the right side heat issue is gone but it really has not been real warm here in Minnesnowta yet. I will let you know how that works out when it warms up in August.

I have the K&N but stock exhaust as well. I did notice a slight surge around the 3k mark but not nearly as bad as before.

I never minded the fan coming on when shut off except when admiring the wildlife in a state park once. The deer were fine with the idle but hated that fan when I shut the bike off.

I hate that loud whiney fan noise after I shut the bike off. I see with the 08+ reflash Buell did away with it running after shut off - or at least the threshold has been raised alot. Just makes me all the more want to find a way to get rid of it on my 06!
