oh ya, now you're talkin! Wonder what something like that would cost. In the interview with Erik that I read over the winter, he said he was WAY into electric cycles, especially of the off-road kind.

The thing about these electric bikes, so far at least, is that they are mostly out in California. I'm in Nebraska and it'll be forever before I'm able to even test ride a bike like a Zero electric motorcycle. I'd love to have one.

The Zero demo fleet was at Daytona in 2010. We were pressed for time that day or we would have demo-ed one. Just saying, that fleet was out and about so maybe there is hope that it'll come closer to you than California at some time. The people we observed riding them seemed to be having a bunch of fun.

I've only ridden one electric bike, and that was a UCF student's scooter. Cool lookin' thing. Typical of automatics in that you'd roll on the throttle for a bit before it would "catch" and take off. It was fun, but weird in that it was so quiet. He loved it, and I bet is real happy that he is paying $0 for gas now.

Zero bikes are supposed to only cost about a penny a day of electricity to ride. Sure will be nice if the day comes that E-motorcycles can go 200+ miles on a full charge and then be fast filled up with electrons in under 15 minutes.

Better yet, an extra battery pack switch out while the dead one charges.

I like the idea of electric mc's but the green thing is a joke, the same with the cars, most of our electricity comes from burning something (coal, gas or oil). I'll take my fossil straight thank you and make it at least 91 octane.

Much easier to contain pollutants from a power plant than it is on millions of cars, trucks and bikes. I also love the simplification that an electric motor brings to the table. Maintenance to an ICE is way more than you'd get with an electric motor. Interesting reading http://www.alternatefuelsworld.com/electric-drive- 2.htm

A thought I just had,"20 miles to work. If it had a briefcase size battery pack, I could carry it in and charge it while working".

When I got my $100 Kawasaki Bison, I was almost hoping the motor wasn't salvagable, at which point I was going to convert it into either an electric commuter bike, or slap in some absurdly efficient IC motor pulled from something else.

But that smoking ring dinging two stroke motor, after a new piston and re-bore, pulls like a freight train. So now I have another 30mpg commuter... but with a hot little motor (for a 250).
