I have the '07 springs to put in my '06 Uly w/12500, on-road miles. Along with the fluid change should I replace the fork seals while I have it that far apart?

I changed to '07 springs on my '06 at about 60k miles as I recall, at the same time I replaced the right seal only (leaking). The left seal finally failed at about 85k miles. So, for me, it isn't necessary to replace seals except when they leak. Not that hard to do.

Ron, I think you can change out those springs without removing the forks from the bike. If you are taking the forks off, then I would say, replace the seals also. Seals are cheap and by the sound of it, not too difficult to change out. Probably take you longer to remove the forks and put them back on.

I need to drain the fluid completely and refill w/Amsoil shock therapy synthetic. I don't want to mix the two. I guess I could hang the whole bike upside down, that would make some great pics for the forum!

Ron, I didn't change my seals when I did the springs and 15,000 miles later they are still good. I did mine while I changed to the 08 triple trees. Here's a link to my thread on the issue. Some pictures might help you:

Thanks! How big was that chunk of pipe for the tube holder?

I think it was around 2". Let me go look...yep, 2" ID and about 2 3/8" OD. Needs to be thick enough to tap some threads in it.
