Just watched Erik Buell and the folks from Erik Buell Racing on the Craftsman Garage Show. About the coolest thing he mentioned was that they had a complete range of bikes in the works including the RX-11, the SX-11, and the AX-11.

AX has GOT to mean "adventure sport"! All you guys that wanted an 1125 powered Uly, sounds like you may get your wish in a couple of years!

We have 5 more years of parts for our XB Uly's. The timing should be about right.

Doug, Is he an enabler or a "pusher"?

I hope there is an AX-11t (not turbo) in the works too. It will probably be the last one made/maybe not.

I'm happy with my air-cooled Uly, no point in parking an AX-11 beside it. How about an SX-550? : )

Meaning what? The parts supply will dry up sooner, or Erik Buell Racing is obtaining the license and rights to product more, XB parts, under the Erik Buell Racing banner?

Or it could mean the AX-11 will be available before 5 years are up.

Hmmm, maybe I should procrastinate a while longer before fixing my broken Uly.

HD can and will stop making Buell parts available whenever they decide - just like they did
shutting down Buell.

What do you think will happen if HD stops making Buell parts available next week?

Nothing - no law suits, no class action suits, nothing. Who's going to spend money or any time on such
nonsense? Just because they're supposed to, doesn't mean they will.

Everybody just moves on.

In my dealer's mind, that's already happening. I went in the other day to see about getting a new rear wheel spacer and bearings. The wanker at the desk says: "Well, let's see if we can get them", as if it would be a big ordeal to get them. He looks in his computer, yep, he can get them - $35 per bearing, and they'll be in next week sometime - Tuesday probably. I was there on Thursday morning. I said thanks, went home and ordered them from American Sportbike, where they were cheaper, and will probably be here within a day of when the dealer would have gotten them.

Is the AX-11 the new ULY? How about the SX-11? And what is the RX-11?
Are these actual designations of upcoming models?
All I know is that I REALLY hope that one is a Sport-Touring model.

""All I know is that I REALLY hope that one is a Sport-Touring model.""

How can anyone realistically expect Buell to resurrect a motorcycle lineup from scratch?

Securing new money, the tooling, and last but not least the dealer network; that's nothing more than a pipe dream.

You think the dealer experience is/was bad now, wait until you have only five Buell dealers in the whole country.

Simply put, dealers want bikes that can make them money, and Buell has proven that it can’t – look at the prices of last of the new and lightly used Buells – Hell, 650cc V-Stroms are selling for more money than our bikes.

Buell had his shot and couldn’t make it happen even with HD’s dealership network, tech support and money – blame HD all you want, if it makes you feel better.

At best, Buell will be MV-ish in complexion, a non-player boutique motorcycle builder…which is okay for those that like that kind of thing.

Crushing his own bike (brilliant), releasing the 1125 to the press with fueling issues (WTF) and crying on YouTube for god sake.

No wonder Buell’s are so cheap.

Now he has his own rock band (Bravo) and he’s schlepping CD's, t-shirts and caps on his motorcycle site. He looks like a guy having a mid-life crisis in dark sunglasses holding a guitar.

Good Grief, Charley Brown

Erik specifically listed those model designations last night when asked if anything more was in the works. It seems logical that AX-11 would be the new adventure bike. Something like: SX-11 = XB12S; RS-11 = XB12R; AX-11 = XB12X. (= here means "roughly equivalent to").

Johnboy, most Harley dealerships kept their small batch of Buells back in the corner and didn't have dedicated salesman that actually tried to sell them. I went to a large Harley dealer one time I was out riding my Cyclone with My Buell hat and Buell jacket on, when I entered the showroom and walked over to the area where they had their Buells, a salesman came up to me and asked me what I was riding. Maybe he didn't know what Buell stood for, and when I told him he said that most Buell riders are stepping up and getting the new HD Dyna's. I just told him that I wasn't like most Buell riders if that was the case and I left. The largest problem Buell was having was the dealers that was suppose to support the product and didn't so how can we not blame the Harley dealers?

BTW, I'm extremely happy with my 2006 Ulysses, best motorcycle ever made!

I know a couple of Ural owners that wish they had the cornucopia of Buell-like parts availability.

They call us gluttons, to our faces, and use terms like "spoiled" and "unresourceful".

They curse our modern parts supply chain, readily available aftermarket and OEM parts situation and have voodoo dolls made to resemble Al Lighton for all that he does to keep us happy.

Hugh, I'm not anti-Buell ... I own one, I ride it, and I like it. Part of the reason I bought it was because it was made right here in the good ol' U.S. of A., by Americans like me.

But if the guy whose name is on my motorcycle goes around acting like a (wanna be rock star cry-baby crush your own bike that was built by YOUR workers) fool – then yeah, I might comment on something like that.

But that’s just me.

Why is it that whenever I mention that I'm hoping for a Sport - touring Buell, somebody has to jump out and tell me that I'm wrong?
Erik has mentioned various variations on the 1125/1190 platform a couple of times without giving any specific information. It's no secret that I've been hoping for a sport tourer since the demise of the S3-T. I was the guy that Erik said, "Sport-tourers don't sell" to. I addressed a rant to the Factory about why they were missing the boat by not building a S-T variant of the Ulysses (then they released the XT, and I bought one as soon as I could get one). It was stated in at least one article that Erik and Flick wanted to build the 1125 first as a Sport-tourer with the 1190 race bike following at a later date, but H-freakin-D felt that a sport tourer would compete with their Dressers, and would cost them sales.
I think a Sport - Touring variant would sell. It wouldn't require a lot of additional engineering beyond the Sport bike. A better fairing for traveling with more comfortable bars and pegs and seat and some decent hard bags. I want a bike that handles like a Buell that I can ride for 12 to 16 hours a day for weeks at a time. A bike that I can ride from Boston to Fairbanks, Alaska and back; and when the trip is over, feel disappointed that it couldn't last longer.
Sport Tourers have gained in popularity over the last few years. I think the time is ripe for a Buell S-T.
I also didn't care for the Cubing of the Blast, but that was just a stupid ad campaign that was probably thought up by the jackasses who marketed the STT as a graffiti bike instead of a great handling Duck hunter.
As far as Erik acting like a fool; well, you have your opinion and it smells like something else you've got.
