I like my Uly-Lite. Got it warmed up with a little ride today. Opened both holes and dumped the winter juice. Pulled the filter, that's when I noticed the crack on top the muffler around the inlet for the header. HEY! This is the replacement can that my dealer installed. On closer inspection the culprit is a missing bolt that holds the front bracket for the over grown stainless hose clamp. I take the muff. off and head to my local independent bike shop. Get there 20 minutes after closing and walk around the side to the garage doors and holler. I hear,"Boss is next door". So, I go see him about running a bead. He started talking about chasing a hole in a muffler the night before. Tells me it will cost $25 just to try. And Time $pent on top of that. And I can leave it. I told him that at work I weld splits in body panels. He tells me I should weld it. I say I don't have a welder at home and Chrysler won't let me do any government jobs at work. He throws me some safety glasses and turns on his welder. I welded it up and he only took $5 from me. Not many places or people like that left in this world. Went home and painted it with 1200 degree grill paint. Finished the oil change to AMSOIL 20w50 Synthetic and installed the can. Went for another ride before grilling steaks.

Sorry no pics, I wanted to eat before they got cold.

Nice work! You are right, there aren't many left. Kudos to the shop boss.

I tried a new way of the yearly ritual of paint the muffler.
#1 propane salamander to heat muffler really hot
#2 apply dupli color high heat satin black
#3 watch out for flames as the salamander ignites some of the over spray.
We'll see how it holds up but it goes on super nice this way and looks gorgeous, well ok it looks pretty good.

This winter I may repaint it and cook it on the grill.

I had my old M2 muffler rustproofed with old motor oil. just paint it on and go for a ride ! Wrought Iron was blackend with hot oil for centuries before paint was common.
