Basically I'm trying to figure out if slip-on exhausts coming from an XB Lighting will fit on my Ully. I guess they will since the engines are the same?

Any exhaust for a non-cat XB will work on your bike. Some European models have a cat and a different header pipe, but that is non issue unless you are looking at a European brand like Remus.

Another thing to be careful of, the XB12X is taller than the other bikers, as result the singarm extends lower and the kickstand is longer, and may result in clearance issues. Micron had a Uly specific version with different angles on the tips to clear the belt guards and kickstand.

I think the outlets are different.
Normal XB12 mufflers' outlets bump into the sidestand, I think.

I think! I haven't tried it yet. Still got my eye open for a cheap used muffler.

The tip on the stock pipes of most Firebolts and Lightnings will get in the way of the kickstand, but this is non issue on Drummer/Special Ops pipes as they cut off the stock tip.

The stock Uly muffler has the tip a few inches further back, but is identical to other stock pipes otherwise.

Thank's for the info. So generally speaking an aftermarket exhaust like a Jardine or a D&D will fit just fine, right?

No.
Many aftermarket slip ons have no provision for the chin fairing and some have other fitment problems.
A stock-modified-pipe like Odie's Special O.P.S or equivelent has the bennefit of being made from a factory pipe and it fits like one.

I see, so I would need to get a model specific one.

I do not want to modify the original one so I'm looking for an aftermarket one. I like the black D&D with the double exhausts, and this Jardine with the "gp style" tip:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ewItem&item=400201498194&viewitem=#ht_1016wt_856

But I feel that tip could be way to close to the sidestand... Any experience with it?

This picture is not the can on a Uly.

The Uly rider pegs are about 1 inch lower, so you may have your heal on the can, and it looks like it may blast gases on the pillion as well. The Jardine can is also known to blown its packing out as well.

Buy, if you can find one, a used Remus. How much is one for an Albert. I have never seen any price on them.

I figured that exhaust would not work too well on the Ulysses. Unfortunately I cannot find a new or used Remus exhaust anywhere... a friend of mine works @ GPR in Italy and he can get me one of their systems with a hefty discount. Any feedback on those?

Thanks, but I would want to retain the chin that is supposed to be there originally. The more and more I think about it, the more modifying the original one for a drummer or a black ops makes sense. I also like the idea of retaining the original valve, so probably black ops!
