Hit the run switch this morning and the fuel pump was really, really loud. Thought I was just hearing things and figured it would go away when I fueled up but it's still there. I can hear the whine over the wind noise at speed.
Has anyone ever had this happen?

I've heard about 09's having issues : ( So hoping it doesn't happen to me.

BTW where did you get the badweb sticker?

When my fuel pump went out it was immediate and silent.
Good luck!

I can hear mine over the noise of the motor (but not at speed so it sounds like yours is louder) and have ever since I bought it..... 15,000 miles ago.

Good luck

The fuel pump can "whine" pretty good on some of the older models. MY 08 XB12R was realatively quiet. My 04 XB12R is VERY loud. MY 06 Uly not as loud as the 04, but not as quiet as the 08.

I'm not sure of this advice but it makes sense to me: Don't ride around too long on reserve because the fuel pump is normally submerged completely. The more empty you run the tank while on Reserve, the hotter the fuel pump gets, not only from the engine but also because it quickly becomes un-submerged. I know the frame rails get hotter the emptier the tank becomes.

Anyways, I try not to run on reserve for more than 10 miles. My advice might not be worth the pixels but it might be right on the money.

It was just odd how it got loud all of a sudden, in the past it has made a grinding type noise a coiuple of times but the dealer claimed it was ok.
I fuel up a few days a week and at least one day a week I am 10 miles or so into the reserve, it just works out like that because of the lack of fuel stations between where I work and live.
It has always been kinda quiet, no louder than my CityX was but man it just got loud overnight.
I guess I'll find out soon enough if it's a bad thing or not.
Whisperstealth, I had a bunch of decals made up 11 years ago by someone here on the Badweb for my M2 and Blast and happened to find one right about the time I bought the Uly so I stuck it on.

Mine is an '06, I run mine into reserve a lot, no noisier than it ever has been. I did take it out to repair the wiring a couple of years ago. That has worked out well.

If your pump's motor is making bad noises and it was heard at the dealership for warranty, I would consider having another tech or dealership listen to it.
