I just emailed Erik Buell Racing inquiring about a race ECM for my "new" '07 ULY I picked up last Aug. I have a Buell race exhaust and will pick up a K&N air filter for it unless there are no race ECM's for my year. I currently have about 2200 miles on the bike and am either going to polish the headers or ceramic coat them...any thoughts, suggestions on the ECM or headers?

I have an Erik Buell Racing computer in my '06 with stock exhaust and K&N.

Flat out LOVE it.

Be VERY specific with them when you order - tell them every single thing you have done or will do to the bike so they can program it correctly for you.

Try Mother's Original Mag Wheel Polish, works well for me.

I tried other polishes, but that one keeps the shine on the headers the longest and seems to resist stains.

I had my original muffler ceramic coated then powder coated black, to keep the original look.

Ceramic coating the headers helps with the heat, too.

I received a response from Erik Buell Racing 2 hrs after requesting info and ordered the ECM this morning...talk about customer service! Now all I have to still get is the air filter.
Can't wait to see the results and hear the Buell race can which by the way I got powder coated high heat gloss black.

The one I picked up on ebay last year appeared to just be oxidized bare metal. it was scratched up but not dented other than some very minor dings...almost unnoticeable. I think I dropped 325 for it not including shipping. The local business that I had it powder coated said that they have no problem with flaking on mufflers but that their high heat material usually flakes off of headers. Regardless they said they would stand behind their work. Still pondering on what to do with my headers as far as polishing or ceramic coating.

There was a short run of coated race cans. Most, however, were just painted silver.

I have a race muffler, KN filter and OEM Race ECM on my 2007. Sounds great, and pulls hard. Only problem is I hit the rev limiter a bit more often
I had the headers ceramic-coated silver, but it's started to discolour a bit, black might have been better.
I thought it may have been getting too hot, but the guys at Erik Buell Racing sorted that for me with one EMail - pretty good service, since I hadn't sourced any of the parts from them

edit: I almost forgot, the standard kick-stand might hit the LH exhaust outlet, mine did. I made a new one, about 1 inch shorter. It gives the bike a bit more lean when parked

I'm waiting for delivery of the ECM from Erik Buell Racing. In the meantime I did the headlight mod and started to fit my Stebel horn under the flyscreen. Can't wait to fit the race can, probably by this weekend. I've thought about the kickstand and am considering something along the lines of a "crooked" kickstand (kinda fabricated around the outlet exhaust) Hard to describe what I sees in my head I suppose it was'nt practical for Eric to design a centerstand for the Uly way back when.

Hi Mylibu. when you get your Stebel horn mounted, take a picture and up load it if you wouldn't mind. I'm getting ready to put mine in and am wrestling with what's the best way to do it. It's a big horn for such a little space. If anyone else has pics of their stebel horn placement, I'd luv to see those to. Thanks.
