Howdy,

I just bought a 2007 XB12X. Living in Vegas, hope to meet up with some people who can show me some of the better non-paved roads around this desert. Beers and Burgers on me.

Oatman, AZ (Black Mountains)- old mining roads.

Very cool ride up from Bullhead City/Laughlin

I think Christmas Tree pass is around there some place - I may be way off on that one, though.

I live in Ohio but have taken a few rides out there on a KLR.

Very nice area to ride in.

Congrats
John

Congrats on the Uly. Make friends with some folks on advrider. If there's dirt/sand/gravel, they know where to find it.

Fellow vegas Uly rider here. Check out mytwowheels.com for the local dualsport riders. There are a couple other Uly riders on there and there are always group rides being planned etc. My riding time is very limited, but we'll have to get together sometime.

Thanks Gents. Loving my Uly, already put 1000 miles on her in less than 3 weeks. (I work over 50 hours a week, so finding time to ride can be tough.) PM if anyone wants to meet up for a brew and a ride.

What's a guy with a profile name of MnViking doing in Vegas?? When I first saw your name I clicked on it thinking, ah another MN Uly owner. Good luck with the bike, you're going to luv it. Check out all the things in the new owners section to find out how to bullet proof it.

I wish I was out there. I used to ride the Mint 400 course daily. There is a bucket load of off road riding worth doing out there. Go ride on the dry lake bed. I did. I lived in Area 2.

I was born and raised in Northern MN, moved to Vegas about 2 years ago. But I'm still a Minnesota boy thru and thru.

hey there,

welcome to vegas. i've lived here for about 15 years and have pretty much ridden what there is to ride here. a couple favorite spots are:

from: Las Vegas, NV to: 36.167537,-115.579433// it won't let me include it, but where it ends off at "lovell summit," you can continue over to trout canyon rd.

i tried going up "rocky gap rd," off to the right, from the red rock side, but only made it halfway before i dropped my bike and had to wait for some jeepers to help me out (tail between my legs...) as the bike was kind of upside down. well, both tires in the air anyways. it fell and then went belly up.

the other unimproved rd i love is out towards pabco: (VIA LAKEMEAD, NOT I-15)

las vegas, nv to 36.234941, -114.886494

i usually just ride it to "B" but as you can see there are a ton of little gravel roads around there.

northshore to valley of fire is a paved, but worthwhile ride.

also up by the lake, look for "rainbow gardens"

Las Vegas, NV To: Rainbow Gardens @36.140519,-114.956668

i've rode through(somehow) to lake las vegas but it was pretty rough.

i'd love to take you up on your beer and (veggie)burger but i've just had a kid, so my other baby is collecting dust in the carport.

there's a lot around to ride pretty much all around the city. if there is desert, there are trails. make sure you have a partner. i've had one too many close calls out there.

oh yeah, one word in the way of advice and caution: if there is a road here worth riding, the police recognize it as a road worth policing. this goes especially for lake mead and red rock, with speed limits of 50mph. there are a ton of speedtraps, and they'll even follow you and wait for you to do something "bad."

DD,

Now that's a pretty pic, 3 Uly's escorting an Indian. Some of my MC buddies would get a kick out of that.

Joined my2wheels last night. Thanks for the referral. Looking forward to meet up with you sometime soon.

If that's a Gilroy Indian, that guy needs escorts often.

Gilroy, California: famous for garlic and, unfortunately, a sad chapter in Indian history.

One of my buddies is from Gilroy and he brags about the Indian factory that was/is there. I just shake my head and walk away.
