Is the Ulysses riding position more upright than an 1125CR with high bars? I'm selling my CR because I am just not comfortable on it, even with high bars and Uly pegs. I have arthritis in my right wrist and I'm not sure if it is the slight forward lean or the sensitive throttle that is causing me problems. I have tried a throttle rocker and throttlemeister and just can't get comfy. I am wondering if the Uly is a little more upright and might be a little easier on the wrist along with the more forgiving lowend torque of the XB engine. Posting in the 1125 section as well. Any thoughts? |

I rode a 1125CR and didn't like the riding position. The demo I rode didn't have the lower pegs and I got leg cramps. The Ulysses is the most comfortable motorcycle I've ever ridden even though it's a little tall for me, I manage ok. |

Yes the Ulysses is MUCH more relaxed with egronomics than a high bar CR. The bars are a good 3" higher, and the pegs are a good 3" lower. The XB12 does have a slight torque advantage below 4000rpm, but it isn't a huge difference. You will notice the difference when you twist the throttle and the XB is still trying to figure out if you want to accelerate or not. To each their own, I find my 1125CR with clubmans to be more comfortable than the Ulysses, and not needing a windshield is fantastic too. With the Uly, the bike puts you in the wind like a barn door, and it will seriously take its toll on you without a windshield. Not to mention the extra height, weight, and the odd peg distance that causes my legs to cramp occasionally. Sometimes I wonder how I ever rode it from Georgia to NY! The 1125R has replaced it for touring duty. |

Also, have you removed the intake solenoid from your CR? Allegedly removing it makes the throttle lighter and easier to operate. I noticed no difference with mine, but it could be anything. (Message edited by froggy on March 07, 2011) |

James- I had an 1125CR with the high bars. I also found the throttle stiffer and more difficult to operate than the one on my Uly. You definitely sit more upright on the Uly; OTOH I found the windblast on the CR with the high bars MUCH worse at speed. I generally found the CR a "harsher" ride than the Uly; it has a much stiffer suspension (even when the settings are softened up), it's buzzier at speed, and it does have brutally instantaneous power delivery. Of course, that's exactly what some people are looking for in a motorcycle. I think I could have made the CR work for me; I would have liked wider bars for one thing. I really couldn't justify owning two top tier motorcycles and when I had to choose which one to keep, I chose the Uly. I found the CR/Uly choice to be like the old rule about motorcycles- "it's more fun to ride a slow(er) bike fast than it is to ride a fast bike slow". |

as stated above, the Uly is much more relaxed. When I test rode the CR (with clubmans, no lower pegs, and standard seat), my legs cramped up on me. Now, this might have something to do with being a bit nervous about riding a motorcycle I didn't own at 130 mph! But it was def more cramped than the Uly. In contrast, I find the Uly too relaxed- my next peoject is lower bars (about 2" I'm thinking). the comments froggy made are just because he's odd. (juuuust kidding Frank! ) but seriously, I don't have a windshield and the wind doesn't bother me, and I find the peg location to be very comfortable (in all seriousness, Frank is shorter than me and I can see it feeling odd with shorter legs). The different seats feel very different as well. |

I have only ever sat on CR but found it would have been to cramped for me. Yes the Uly is a more upright seated position, for most people, than a sporty bike. With the Uly you could always, if you could not find the right size, have a set of bars bent up to exactly what fits you. Its only 5/8, I think, steel tube anyway and it should be cheap to do. Nice...that web site will do wonders for my self esteem. Even if it's close, at 6'4" I look like a Circus Bear on just about every model. |

Yea that stick figure needs some work, according to it, I can't touch the ground on my 1125R, and when tucked in my head is in front of the windscreen somehow! Cool site otherwise |

I find Froggy's posts very helpful and his knowledge encyclopedic. However, whenever he posts about comfort I find myself wondering if we are talking about the same motorcycles. I also wonder if he has a sail on his bikes to get the mileage figures out of them that he reports. |

the Uly is (for me) the comfier of the two. The CR with high bars actually feels less natural than the stock clubmans....I keep wanting to lean forward. I wouldn't want to slab x-country on the CR for very long, the Uly on the other hand pretty much soaks up any road. |

I have a Uly and a CR. The Uly is my functional bike, the CR is my FUN bike. |

Hi - I have an Uly and an 1125R. The Uly is by far the most comfortable of the pair. Very upright posture, similar to a Lightning (XB12S). I wouldn't have even considered the CR (over the 1125R) due to the lower bars and more hunched-over posture. For me (6'1"), my legs/knees are usually the 1st to feel the miles on the 1125R, although that it takes at least 2 tanks before I worry about it. Have fun! Alan |

6'4", 34" inseam, Buell Pro seat, Ulysses pegs. Aside from the fact that I should park the CR for a while so I don't kill myself (caught the speedo at 130+ yesterday...three times), I'm just as comfy on the CR as I am on the Uly. |
