I just purchase a 2008 xb12x that had a mishaps and I would like some advise from seasoned owners on fixing the bike- It looks like the last rider hit a curb breaking the front rim and went for loop taking out the bars, front fairing/windscreen, and all the instruments out front. forks are good- I have few wires that I have no idea what they go to- the ignition switch is toast with a broken key still in the ignition. Question- given I have no lights , fairing , horn, speedo, ect.. are these still avaliable or is there any aftermarket companies or mods you would do if you were replacing this items? I'm trying to learn how to post pic's to give you an idea of what damage was done. thanks for your input. http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x278/chopperrescue/BUELL%20ULY%202008/ (Message edited by chopperrescue on March 06, 2011) |

A factory service manuel will help you a lot,and the classified adds here on badweb and ebay, that would be the most cost effective route I would think. Good luck with it |

I have borrowed a parts manual from my local H.D. shop, and have part numbers for most items other than a red windscreen and the black front rim, they are only showing a Magnesium color? Any one that has parts or pictures of how the front end pieces go back together would be a great help. I didn't receive any of the missing items so I'm not 100% or even 50% sure of how to put this back together. |

You must have gotten that wreck for very little money. |

You should have no problem getting those parts, in fact Erik Buell Racing may have some takeoff spares of some of what you need. I recall recently seeing a Villain Black front wheel for sale in the classifieds here too. As for the wrong color stuff, it sounds like you have an old parts book from before the XB12XT came out. (Your bike is a 2008 XB12XT, not XB12X) |

Your bike is actually an XB12XT, not an XB12X. It has a slightly lower suspension than the X and some other detail differences. The X comes with magnesium colored rims; the XT with black ones. Looks like the previous owner has installed the optional "tall" seat. You can get aftermarket bars and windscreens, but they're not necessarily any cheaper or better than the OEM parts. Some people have fitted aftermarket headlight assemblies (the Uly's lights aren't the best) and there are several choices for aftermarket horns. For stock parts, you can save a lot of money by going with used parts. Start looking on ebay and in the classifieds here. The parts book is generally a pretty good guide on how things go together. Between the shop manual and the parts book, you shouldn't have any trouble putting it back together. |

Thanks - I was able to order most everything from my dealer- I need a wiring diagram for some wires that are damaged or missing up front. If you guy's have a diagram of the wiring up front I would be thankful or know where I can get a service book - dealer did not have one, only the parts book that I had to return. Thanks again. |

The dealer can order the books up for you, or you can get them from Liberty HD/Buell, or American Sport Bike, they make a good effort to keep a copy of each book in stock. There are 3 books all together, they will set you back around $120 for all 3, but it is well worth it. 99490-08YA - Service 99575-08YA - Parts 99493-08Y - Electrical http://www.libertyharley.com/buell/parts/ http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/9092.html |

Nothing of real value in the owners manual, everything it has is covered in the service manual anyway. That, and it tells you things that you will die if you leave your kickstand down while driving, you will die if you don't adjust your mirrors, and all kinds of other fun things. It is about 20 bucks, if your gonna order the rest might as well throw it in for the hell of it. 99477-08YA |

I was able to get the service manual and have most of my wiring back together, BUT- the bike was missing the flasher(torn away) and the turn signals had been torn away so I didn't have much to go on- the flasher is a 3-pin which I have- I have 2-orange/white wires(1-hot with switch on)1-violet/brn 1-black wire - Does anybody know if the 2 orange/wht wires splice together on the relay flasher and what positions the wires go? It was also missing the plug for the flasher so I'm wiring it in using connectors. Like I said I have the electrical layout but my understanding of it is not that great. Thanks |

I have an 06 manual here. The o/w goes to pin 2 The v/bn goes to pin 1 The bk goes to pin 4 Not shure if the flasher is numbered Mine only shows 1 o/w on the flasher but they may be together on an XT The 12V outlet has o/r and bk |
