Is the orange color on the two tone low seat paint? Is there a way to return it to all black color? I've got one coming and since my bike is blue don't really want an orange seat. It took me a while to find one and figured I better jump on this one even though it isn't black. Any help appreciated.

You could attempt to dye it black. Or take it to an upholstery shop- shouldn't be too much $$ to recover it. Heck, you could go with a matching blue then!

Yea, they make spray dye for vinyl upholstery. You could try that, and if it doesn't look good, then take it to an upholstery shop.

I bought a used seat from Ft_bstrd to use for "experiments". The previous owner apparently spray-painted the orange rear of this seat with black paint. That does NOT work.

That's what I did. A local Upholsterer matched the racing red of my XT. I think it came out well.

I've heard good things about Premier Upholstery, but mostly from the custom car world:
premieruph.com

I need some leather repair done on my van, and I got GLOWING reviews from Main Motors about the guy that they use in Andover...but I can't remember the name! I spoke with the guy a few months back, and he basically does custom and repair work (he will remove my leather seat, and replace the worn panel with a new one)- I think that some motorcycle seat work will be right up his alley.

I need to get my van repaired soon, I'll call my dealer back and ask them who it was and post back here.

Yellow Dog Upholstery is the guy in Anoka. I'll hopefully be having my leather seat in my van repaired by him soon, I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of matching the bike color, we have a couple of old boys here in town that do all kinds of upholstery, they fixed a doggy mishap in my truck and did a great job.

Yes you can dye the seat.

Get this stuff from you local auto paint store.

In the end it works great...and only costs about $15.

It is scrubbable and will not peal off...but it may need to be touched up once a year (at least the red does). That said...I would have it reupholstered if I found a local place that did nice work.

A friend of mine has a body shop and he thinks there is a flexible acrylic paint that was used to paint bumper (cushioned) panels that might work. Might be worth a try, if that fails could go the re-cover route.

NAPA stores have Mar-Hide in spray cans that is an actual dye for vinyl and leather. Good product. It's color soaks into the material being colored.

Jason it is too late would probably have take you up on it. The rear of the seat is now the color of the bike thanks to a local upholstery guy.
