Well, I really wanted to post the line "Dr. Greg goes for first RIDE!" but I'm not quite there yet...but it sure felt GOOD to get out into nature for a 1.5-mile walk (er, "stroll") yesterday.

Undiagnosed shortness of breath still hanging on since December 12, although doc swears my pneumonia is completely cured. Have had a bunch of tests, with more to come (chest CT scan tomorrow). Mrs. Greg has had to prod the medical establishment to KEEP DOING SOMETHING on her poor 63-year old husband!

I haven't worked since early January.

Have lost weight, but I think I've bottomed out at 132 lb (normal 140 lb). Have regained a little bit of an appetite.

See both the cardiologist and my PCP next week. If I feel up to it, on the first day of decent weather after that I'm gonna crank up the '06 Uly and go for a 90-mile loop ride in central New Mexico. Just to get out of the blasted house. The Milledue (10 mi. on odometer since purchase in November) will come later.

Just a note to let the faithful know I'm still alive and looking forward to recovery...

--Doc

Hey Doc, I know you like to ride solo but I'd suggest riding with a wingman for a while. It'll ease your wife's apprehension and may come in handy. If I lived closer, I'd offer to keep your Multi in ready-to-ride form.

Heal up, Dude.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Did they test you for Valley Fever? It's common here in central calif but I heard it reaches all they way into Texas. I caught it back in '69 and was out of school for 6 months. My symptoms? It hurt to take a deep breath and I was tired all the time.

Doc, that's good news! After reading all your posts, I know you are one tough guy and will get over this illness too. I hope you enjoy your ride! I always really look forward to the first ride after I get my bike out of winter storage. Take care.

I'm sure you've reviewed all that you eat or don't eat and are now trying to do that better. Make sure that you restrict your sodium intake and believe you me it takes some doing to minimize sodium in your diet. I've cut way back and only wish I had listened many years ago to the prevailing wisdom about sodium intake and it's detriments to health. Anyways, get healthy and take care of yourself. Hopefully the Badweb bunch can see you in East Troy this June. No excuses.

Good news Doc. Good luck on the ride but try not to have TOO much fun. I can't help thinking the motorcycle gods owe you a favor or two - but they can be fickle dudes. Let us know how you make out.

Good to hear Doc. Sort of anyway, I'll bet some time out of doors will do more than the doctors you are going to see.

+1 on the Valley Fever Doc. My daughter caught it when I flew out of Tucson and it's now a big red note in her medical records. Get well.

Did they test you for Valley Fever?

Yes, I've been mentioning fungal infections to the docs: the problem is few docs have seen them (in New Mexico) and they are hard to diagnose. Plus my symptoms don't fit fungus too well.

I'm physically improving somewhat; the difficult part is the psychological side. I didn't expect my (impending) retirement to go like this...I guess life sometimes throws you a curveball.

Thanks for all your good thoughts. I have many people thinking/praying for me...regardless of your spiritual orientation that's gotta help.

Doc,

I'm sure after all this problems there is a bright light at the end of the tunnel......hey that light must be the head lamp of the Uly calling you, I wish you a fast and full recovery.

Trailer?! The ride back to HC11 sounds like a perfect lead-in to my long-awaited ride up the Missouri River, then on down the West Coast and back to New Mexico.

We'll see...

Geez Doc - Sorry for the detour on your recovery. I much prefer the straight forward maladies than the mysterious ones. But sounds like you maybe improving, inspite of all the medical attention. Walking is great therapy for so many things - keep doing it! Hang in there pal. j

Dr. Greg- Sorry to read of your troubles. Glad you seem to be on the mend, even if it's slow. Hang in there. Hopefully both you and my Uly will be mended in time for Homecoming.
