I'm sure if you spent the money on a Duc you'd feel that you had to say nice things ...UNTIL the first time you had to buy parts for it.

I got my 06 XB back in 2008 for $3500. A HD dealer offered the previous owner only $3000 for a less than 2 year old XB towards a new 1125R.

Anyway, despite the trade in value, get the Multistrada anyway, its the best motorcycle I have ever ridden, hands down.

Scandalous, Froggy! Scandalous! LOL

Hey, in all seriousness the Multistrada might be but my ULY is an amazing bike and I am more in awe of it (design, performance, quality, etc.) every time I ride it.

I'd recommend keeping the Uly, hands down.

All depends on desires and needs, for me the Multistrada as nice as it may be doesen't fit on my ideas, chain driven.....wonder what the cost of chain and sprockets will be, saw one and one of the cables was peeling and rusting with just over 2000 miles, yes 150hp seem very desirable, but are they really needed? I wont trade my 06 Uly, I get all I need from it.

Went to dinner with friends the other night in St. Louis at a new place called Triumph's. It has a motorcycle museum up front with all kinds of bikes and then a restaurant and bar. Behind that is a Triumph/Ducati dealer. While waiting on food I walked back to the dealer and sat on a Multi Strata. Well, it's not much different from my Cagiva Gran Canyon I had before the Uly. I'm talking seating position here, not HP! Too cramped for my grass hopper legs, I'll keep the Uly, Thanks.

That is the only thing I did not like about the Multi, so the first thing I would do is adapt some kind of belt or shaft to it.

The new Duke Multi-Strada (not the old one) is a right clever machine. Here in the UK they are about 12000 GBP or about 19500 USD at our exchange rates. That was 4000 GBP on the Ulys dealer RRP.

I am sure its a good bike and have read good reports on them. But here is my problem. This bike is one of the most complicated, elecrical/suspension system, bikes I have ever seen and Dukes have never had a good rep for there electrics.

The most common problems with bikes, more so with age, have always been with the electrics. Something to keep in mind.

Sold my '06 ULY (no bags) w/8000 Mi back in Sept for $5000.00 to a mid-twenties something kid who was living at home. Then took the cash and plunked it down on a new '11 BMW R1200GS... The BMW Dealer offered $4000.00 tops on trade-in, same thing the local H-D offered on trade. BTW I sold the bike through graigslist.com; took about three weeks before I sold it.

I dunno, guys... In my 6,000-mile XC trip last fall on the Milledue, I lubricated the chain periodically, but did not have to adjust it ONE BIT. Just as trouble-free as the belt, IMHO.

Lovely bike. Now if I can just shake off this illness of mine and get back to riding it (along with the '06 Uly)...

I was talking to a dealer about trading my Uly for a Multi......the Duc dealer would not take the Uly as a trade PERIOD. They just said sorry but we're not interested in your bike, why dont you try to sell it yourself and come back after you do.

I was floored, and after a little bit was glad they sent me away....I shouldn't be spending that much on a bike right now.

Doc, its the principal of the chain that bugs me. I want a belt, period. Even the new Zero bikes are starting to come with belts.

Also, in my last 20,000 miles combined on my 1125's, I haven't done a single thing to the belt.

You may not recall, but I had fits with belt tracking (which is not adjustable) and belt "whining". Other than that, I was happy with the belt, and consider myself a Uly evangelist.

I've put more miles than most on my Uly(s), and overall I'm still very satisfied. But they're not perfect. Nothing is.

In the 12K miles I rode the Milledue I fell in love with it. But it's not perfect either. Neither was the rider . Hopefully I get a do-over...
