Long story short, my skip spark went away in cold weather with the new temp gauge, but it still happens in hot weather.

Next up is a larger oil cooler. Can anyone confirm the size of the threads on the fitting that sits IN the oil cooler? I will be replacing the oil cooler, and need the fittings that will match up with the current oil lines.

As I recall, the 06 Ulysses has AN fittings, but I'm not sure the size, and I don't have the time or ability to take it off just to check right now.

From 08 the 8 row oil cooler is different and fittings I think are different too.

I wanna say the '06 and '07 have -6AN fittings.

'08-up are "jiffy-tite" fittings, totally different.

Do you have a hydraulics store nearby? Here in Fredneck (Frederick)...we have one that does nothing but hydraulic fittings. Pennies apiece.

Either that, or a local speed shop. -AN is popular for drag cars, for...well..everything from fuel to coolant to oil lines.

The difference from -4 to -6 to -8 is large enough that if you get a good look at your cooler, then go inside and look at parts...you'll be able to tell what fits.

I remember seeing a thread about similar spark-skip issues and the possibility it was due to voltage fluctuations from the fan feeding into the ECM and causing an erroneous spark-skip (erroneous in that it the head temp was possibly not high enough to warrant a spark-skip). Found it here

Chief,
I have considered that as my problems are similar.

However my bike is an 88" engine, and no doubt has some differences in heat output. The fix they use to stop the skip spark permanently leaves the CEL on.

I just want to try and fix this problem without resorting to that. And worse case scenario, my bike has much cooler oil.
