I really want to get my wife involved in my motorcycle habit... don't ask me why... I just do..

She has said that if she could talk to me while we are riding that it would be a better experience for her.

With that in mind... what systems do you suggest

I do wear earplugs when I ride so if it came earplugs with speakers built in.. that would be great

I bought the Sena SMH10 bluetooth coms for my self for xmas. Already tested them with the wife and they are excellent quality. I looked at several other blue tooth coms and I found that the Sena SMH10's were the best for what I wanted to do with them. Very easy to use and a nice large jog dial that makes it easy to adjust volume while riding.

Mark-

I just sent you a PM about our BlueAnt systems. We love them, and use them for the same purpose you do- it is the ONLY reason that my wife started riding! It was so great to be able to coach her while riding behind her. And now we love them (whether riding on 1 bike or 2) because we can communicate easily about exits, stops etc.

The BlueAnt unit have been FANTASTIC for us! I always wear earplugs as well, and these have a "loud" setting that plays very clearly through the plugs.

The BluAnt products are fantastic ones, I have sold many a friend on them over the past couple of years!

I have the Sena SMH10 dual set also and have no complaints. Its real nice to communicate with others or listen to music while riding. I only paid like $250 ish for the pair. I could'nt beat the price.

Do these systems work with the standard headphone mini-plug? I just had custom molded earplug/headphones ($$$) made at the bike show.

I went with Autocom (because it was a great price and I have the diagrams to make all my own cables).

My main requirement was to be able to use FRS, GMRS or even Ham radios for bike to bike. Then I wired in the music, then the cell phone.

Then I take my wife for a ride and she has nothing to say. Too busy loving the ride.

Sena offers a model that works with headphones. I was thinking of trying that option out.

Ronmold, yeah there is a standard plug on the unit on the back. I have tested it and it works fine. I use it to listen to my music. All of my music is on my Zumo 550 and it is the older bluetooth technology so if I don't use the headphone jack, all I get is the music in mono over bluetooth.

I currently use the Autocom hardwired system...which has been great over the last few years..I use the in-ear headphone adapter cable with my Shure or CEP headphones. And it does make two up riding very enjoyable...although my wife thinks I talk too much!

With all that said I have been thinking a lot about moving towards a blue tooth system. In all my research...the Sena (as mentioned above) and the Scala Rider G4 are my top picks. I am favoring the SMH10 because they currently offer optional mounts which allow for the use of in-ear headphones (about a $30 option). I have heard that this may soon be an option for the Scala Rider too...but right now it is not!

So, if I had to pick one today it would be the Sena system...but I will not be making the purchase until May, so I will continue to monitor my options.

My Sena plays music in stereo from my bluetooth phone and I've used my MP3 player via the jack to get stereo music. I did'nt want just mono sound.
