Followed the procedure in manual as far as needed for oil change. Seems like simpler design than earlier year forks, at least from what pictures I've seen posted here. Picture below shows what comes out before you add and measure oil level.

I always leave the damper rod in, it has a set adjustment height that I am willing to bet is now off.

Before you tighten it all up make sure you have full range on the dial up top. The first set I did I only ended up with a 1/4 turn instead of 3 full turns.

I appreciate the response New12r, but I did not experience the problems you mentioned. All settings remain fully adjustable, and the suspension feels exactly the same as it did when it was new. I can't explain why the '08 Ulys you've done the fork oil change on required you to modify the service manual procedure.
