Shields & screens are on ebay a lot. I have a no brainer system for mounting the shield to the fly, plus you can then remove the shield from the fly without having to remove the fly screen first. It's done with compression nuts - soap them up, pull them through the mounting holes and you're done.

where can i get some of these compression nuts? That would make it a hell of a lot easier to clean the bugs out from behind the shield

I think they are also called well nuts. I have bought them in hardware stores.

What size? What kind of screws/bolts are you using in them. Pics of it installed?

Ace hardware. Screws are stainless 1/4 x 20 socket/allen heads. Nuts are a tad bigger than the mounting holes, so a little soap on them and use the bolts to pull them through before tightening.

I also noticed an improvement with the air flow. Had been using a Laminar Lip, but switched to the Palmer brackets this winter.

Pic was taken just after I put them on. Turned around and headed home to beat the snow storm rolling in from the Beartooths. Haven't been able to get out of the garage since that day.

Kind of a crappy pic, but the nuts are rubber compound with a threaded brass sleeve.

Great idea Itileman. I wish I thought of that before I bought a new set of the pins from American Sport Bike. Hmm, anyone want them?

Seems like switching screens will be alot easier this summer!

I couldn't get another pic up while editing. Here's the link to the compression/well nut:
