Just put on my latest farkle. Its a iphone 4 mount from Ram Mount. Very easy to install and just a neat product. My phone has a GPS app and this mount is perfect to use it for trips.

I purchased the same mount and it works well with My Motorola Droid. I use Google maps for travel information and love it! |

The Amish and Mennonites are living life on their own terms and certainly are not caught up in the throwaway world of today. |

""The Amish and Mennonites are living life on their own terms and certainly are not caught up in the throwaway world of today"" EG, I live 20 minutes or so from a large Amish community in PA and a buddy of mine, a few years back, had them building bentwood rockers for him. He would get a U-Haul full of them and take them up to Mystic Bay, near Boston, where his son lived, and sell them to the shops up there. I spent some time with the Amish, and went on a few trips with him just for the fun of it. I can tell you one thing for certain, the Amish lifestyle is just 'romanticized' one – not on their part, but on ours; those of us non-Amish, they refer to as English. Yeah, simpler times, no stress, closer knit families, and all that BS…and it is BS First off, the conditions under which they prepare their food is appalling - flat out unsanitary. Their bathroom is outside. They don’t have running water, so guess what – they don’t wash their hands or themselves very that often. They stink – not just a little bit – but a lot. Why, because they don’t bathe that often (no hot showers, no indoor running water – you can figure it out) and they walk around in horse and cow chit all day. The ones I knew were NOT happier than us. It always cracks me up when I see people stopping at their stands on the side of the road and buying their breads, and pastries. If people only knew, first hand, the conditions under which all of their stuff was made. their communities are so small, they have a real problem with inbreeding, because they are all cousins. You know the old joke when some guy says is there a Mr. Yoder here - and all the men stand up. And don’t get me started on how they treat their women. Yeah, what a great life they have. I don't think so. Romanticize about it all you want - the reality is quite different. ... |

I googled "Amish and Inbreeding" and was taken back by all the information on their bottle necked gene pool. Pretty interesting reading. We had a Mennonite gal in our high school and she was the bees knees. Apparently they have an inbreeding history also, the mennonites that is. Here's a good article along the same lines. I especially liked the " female mice consistently picked males with the most complex urinary bouquet." http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/04/women-tr ust-you/ |

I live amongst the Amish. All the time I see the younger boys (pre marriage) with cell phones and GPS in the buggies! You can tell the younger boys because they farkle the buggies with reflectors and LED fog lights. but once they get hitched all the farkles go away. |

Fuzzy dice, led's underneath, and enough bass to feel it in my house! They really have some nice cars stashed away, too. My daughter worked at Hershey Park and the kids would come in "English" teen-agers' clothes but they couldn't hide the haircuts. Twenty-four years ago I used to stop by the Getty-mart in Intercourse (that's really the name of the town) on my way home from college every weekend and the girl that worked there hated working weekend nights because the Amish kids would come in drunk and start trouble! |

Billyo, Remember back in 98 when they busted the (insert name of bike club) for selling crank (speed) to the Amish down at Gap park. The amount of dope passing hands was a lot. |

It's a shame to read degrading comments like these, especially since this is a motorcycle forum. Never mind what day they were posted posted on. Absolutely reprehensible. |

Problem with using a phone for GPS is when you loose cell coverage (Colorado,AR,etc.) no mo maps. |

True, I was going to order one for the phone, then I decided that the tom tom less than $100 and easier to use so I think I'm going to get a ram mount for that. Not to mention if it breaks there's always a better cheaper one available in a month or two.. |

Problem with using a phone for GPS is when you loose cell coverage (Colorado,AR,etc.) no mo maps. Not according to the reviews I have read of several of the the apps out there. Do you have personal knowledge that this statement is true? I have read several posts on advrider.com from people using an iphone as a GPS that have specifically said this was not true for at least some of the apps. |

Actually I do. I was riding this summer in Colorado. A friend with an Iphone would loose his maps when cell coverage was lost. Where do you think the map info is coming into the phone from? Not Sat. Just my 2cents |
