My Uly with 14,000 miles on the clock died at an intersection while waiting for the light to change. I pushed it into a nearby parking lot and figured it out pretty quickly. No sound from the fuel pump when powering up. Fuel pump fuse had blown. I know others have had this happen on 09s. Has this been a re-occuring problem with any of you? I'm hoping this is a fluke. This could have been a dangerous situation for me if it had happened in the middle of the intersection.

Happened to me on a hot day, low on fuel, thousands of miles ago. Has not happened since.

Which 'replacement' fuses are recommended to carry? Thanks.

It was about 75 here today. I did get caught by more lights then usual today and I had put about 110 miles on that tank. Sure surprised me though. I pulled it in to the nearest gas station and filled it once I got it running again. The fuse is a 10 amp mini fuse. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Sharkguy,
You had the 10 amp mini fuse with you? If so, kudos, Man! What assortment of fuses do you carry? Thanks, and sorry about your troubles. I'm trying to be ready for issues that would otherwise put me in the grasp of an uncaring, &^*%^&#$ dealer. I know some are good, and a few are very good, but many others are, um, I'll pass! Thanks.

Ain't there one or 2 spares in the fuse box?
I used to carry spare fuses because my GPS/tank bag/computer charger/autocom all used mini fuses as well.

These bikes only take two types of fuses, 10 and 15 amp mini's. I put 3 spares of each in the little tiny tool kit under the seat.

I taped a box of each to the lid.

Happened to my '09 Uly, too. Warm day, 60 mile "scenic" ride home from work. I was keeping the rpms low to keep the consumption down of the little bit of fuel I had left in the tank.

Rolling north on the Tucson Mountain Road about 45 mph. Poof! Engine died, no restart at all. No fuel pump sound. That was at around 6000 or 7000 miles on the clock. It never recurred, and I'm currently tickling the furry underside of 36000 miles.

There is a spare of each in my '08 Fuse block.

Yeah, keep a few of each under the seat in a small plastic container. Your fuse panel should have a diagram of which goes where. Bttrthnwrk, I was doing the same, trying to conserve on fuel and get it back to the house so taking it easy. Luckily, I was less then a mile from my house when it died. So if I couldn't get it going it would have been a short walk to get the truck and pick it up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is a one time thing. I know there are others on here that have had fuel pump issues. Thanks for the input guys.

Seems like the common symptom is that ya all are driving too slow ; )

I had a similar issue happen to me with my Uly. Took me a year to resolve it.

The issue I experienced was, once the bike got warm from sitting at a light or going slow... the bike would die... no engine light, no fuel pump. (Note: unplugging the ECM will result in the same behavior)

Once the bike cooled off everything went back to normal.

The root cause of the issues was the ECM connector under the seat. Heat would cause the connector to swell causing the female ends to loose contact with the male pins.

I resolved the issue by pulling the connector apart then slightly bending the female ends (from round to oval shape) providing a better connection on the pins.

So far so good.

I can't imagine my connector is the only one that has been causing electrical issues.
