Ist picture ever uploaded by me from iphone. led lights mounted from turn signal post.spot on pass side flood on driver side. These things work great and seem bright coming at you but not dazzling if there aimed discreetly. I have them separately switched so I can run them independently or all on. |

You have to use that beacon when towing? |

Well yes. When using it as a wrecker it must be turned on when on the way to the scene of a wreck and when any vehicles are in tow behind the towing vehicle. Ya gotta love a Uly! |

Hey Gang; NOICE Lights! Currently I need to work through my "Punch List" to clear up / tidy up some of the reliability issues I have had with my 2006 XB12X in a recent post.....all of which seem to be electric related in some way. Thanks for all the help and advice; I would sure hate to get all these problems finally fixed...only to "dump" a cool bike. But there are some "sport touring" upgrades I would really love to do to my Ully. Before my Ully started acting up on me I started thinking about ADDING ON H.I.D Auxilliary lights like I see here; nice! It is a project I want to do "Ideally" to ride long range into my sales territory on my 2006 Ully I want to wire in my Gerbing Electric Heated Jacket controller I just got, be able to run my Garmin GPS, be able to run my Passport Radar Detector, and flip on my HID Aux Lights when needed on dark unlit roads. Running the Garmin GPS by itself does not seem to be a problem; and I have not mounted up the Passport Radar Detector yet and ran both at the same time. But I have a few "questions / concerns" about doing this; its seems that our beloved Ully's are "electrically challenged"? I'm doing my homework, digging through the threads and picking up pointers about one stator/rectifier being more powerful on one year than the other....and folks adding Voltometers and "monitoring" the battery / charging level. Having said all of this; and BEFORE I buy all these accessories the Aerostich catalog is teasing me with...... Is adding all of these farkles "TOO MUCH" to ask of a Ully? |

I pretty much have or have had all those on my '06 at some point. - Both headlights on for High - Gerbings heated jacket liner and gloves - GPS - XM Radio - Aux Lights Started with standard 55watt driving Then went to HIDs (Trail Techs) Now Clearwater light LEDs. I have FB's voltage monitor so I can see when I have issues. On a normal commute in the winter... Both headlights, Heated jacket liner and gloves, XM Radio, LED lights works just fine. If I sit at alight, I sometimes see it drop a bit, but I also have my idle set low (900-950). When I see it go to yellow I just touch the throttle to around 1100 and everything is good. Note that the jacket and gloves are rarely on @100% power, so they never really hit their full draw. (Message edited by gamdh on November 26, 2010) |

If all the above were at full 100% power, you would probably have a problem.

I run: GPS - heated jacket - heated gloves - heated grips - 4 aux LED marker lights - phone/MP3 charger - both headlights(except for when I need low beam after dark). It can require(on a really cold long ride) keeping the rpms above 3500 to stay warm. Hitting 5000 for a time will get you really warm. I do not run a voltage indicator light set up. I did remove the "77" connector before it could kill my VR and Stator. I have fixed many shorts in the wiring harness. The '06 Uly has the most powerful charging system of all of the Uly's if I remember correctly. |

You have headlight load at 110 watts, is that with the both lights on with hi beam mod? I don't have that so at most I am running 55 watts and about 4.5 amps all the time weather I'm runnning hi or lo beam? If that is so I should be fine and you didn't mention how much power the heated hand grips use that are factory installed on 08+ bikes which I have and use regularly now that the temps have dropped. |

If one wants to power the auxiliary lights on a separate, fused line where is the best place to connect the line to? Is it necessary to go all the way back to the battery cable? |

I don't know if it is necessary (someone with more EE knowledge will have to speak up) but if you have to go all the way back to the battery, the Uly is one of the easiest bikes to do so on. I did just to keep the load off of any original loom circuits and to keep me from messing up/around with what was already working without issue. It was almost too easy. |

Drunk_Uncle Yes, the 110 is for running both headlights on when on high beam. This is for an '06, so no heated grips. Also note that the '06 stator puts out more power than the newer ones. |

I have power directly from the battery to this Then I run all my accessories off the fuse block, including the LED lights (and the HIDs before that) |

Lt_adderall, Here's the bottom line as I see it; The more crap you add to your Uly, the more you will have to deal with. If you want reliability, achieve that first and only then consider changing anything. If even then. Dan |

Hella FF-50 Driving Beams on GME's bar:
55w H7 bulbs, excellent lights. First ran them on a Ulytility bar that shook itself apart, then ran them on the GME bar and the original mounts shook themselves apart. Hence the bulky blocks of 6061 but they're steady as hell now, some day I'll finish detailing them. |

Gamdh- Do you still have to run a relay with all of your accessories then into the fuse block or does the fuse block act like a relay also? |

There is a relay in the circuit. I'm using an earlier version of this from Eastern Beaver "30A Dual Circuit Fusepanel Relay Kits - PC-8 or AP-2 ". You can find the details here... http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Fusebox es/Wiring_Kits/wiring_kits.html |

I used this fuse block for $9: http://www.jegs.com/i/Painless+Performance+Product s/764/30002/10002/-1 Add a standard relay for less than two bucks http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partn umber=330-073 And a standard relay socket for two bucks http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partn umber=330-075 And you have basically the same setup as the $50 one posted above for under $15. |

Thanks everyone for the ideas. Today myself and Toona came up with a new lunicraft aux light set up using the Hella Optilux 2500 Angel Eye Light Kit. 1st we cut a section out of aluminum angle the same width of the original mounting bracket that came with the light.
Then we shaped it and drilled holes for the turn signal to mount on it and then bolted the custom bracket onto the bracket that came with the light. Painted them with some black crinkle paint
So the lights didnt rotate we cut the heads off 1/4 screws and JB welded them into the turn signal. They use the same hole as the original little peg on the turn signal
