Has anyone tried out the GIVI T479 soft saddle bags (29-39 liter per side)? On the GIVI site it says the silver series needs the universal or specific mounting kit but then gives you NO clue as to what it might be or where to find it or if its actually needed. HELP!!!

OR does anyone know of good soft case saddle bages that will actually carry a fair amount of stuff?

I picked up a set of soft panniers, online, from Oxford.
Called "First Time" they hold 48L and are under $100USD.
Served me well, let my brother keep them for his Firebolt since my Uly has hardbags.

When I did a search for the bags, an image of my 1125R came up. heheheh

I like this one.

Hey Cowboy, here's some new and interesting options for soft sider bags for your bike; www.roadreadybags.com. Spotted these in one of my favorite rags, Road Runner.

Is it legal if your bags cover up the side reflector?
Have a set of soft bags but if mounted far enough forward to allow the reflector to show they flop around

It should be no problem. I never wrote a ticket for it and can't even recall a single section covering something like that.. and I was a cop in CA where they have some of the MOST strict safety laws (except of course lane-sharing, something I actually miss). Besides, the siping in almost all soft luggage is reflective.

Quick note...

Called GiviUSA. They said the Buells have no need for the mounting system since our exhaust is under the bike and actually work really well. When I get them I will put them on, load them up to the max and take some pics to post here. I'll keep ya'll updated on how they work out.

For sure let us know Cowboy. I still haven't decided what I'm going to buy this spring for panniers and would be very interested in how those soft siders work.

I'll use them as much as possible and give a short review before spring, but should be able to give a pretty thorough review on them after my spring trip.. Panhandle of Oklahoma to Pagosa Springs, CO (via Taos), from there up to Flathead Lake, MT (via Yellowstone).. I'll probably go ahead and make the extra 100 or so miles up into Canada to make it a true Ironbutt trip, then back home to OK via Mt. Rushmore. I Figure after a couple thousand miles I ought to have an idea.. LoL

Cowboycop, your info on the bags needing no extra hardware is still useful to this day! Thanks
