Michelin PR2 rear tire has been nothing but flats left and right for me. Went out to take it for a ride to Gold's gym today and it was hard pushing. Checked the tire and of course it was flat once again so I took my son's 07' ULY. His bike is way smoother feeling than my 06. Anyways, now I will change that PR2 to the other PR2 that I got at Erik Buell Racing during 2010 Homecoming. Hope it is better than the first one. Not particularly impressed. | ||

Last flat I had was from a 6" gutter spike nail in the rear on the XL500S. Bead locks let me ride it home 7 miles. WEEEEEEE, not. I will have to look into this stuff. | ||

Tyreguardian sounds alot like Kreem which is the white latex sealant that you swish in your motorcycle gas tank after derusting with acid. Kreem has gotten kind of expensive since I used it last maybe 30 years ago or so. | ||

Tyreguardian ain't cheap either at about $15.00/tire. I can see it for pin holes, not gutter spikes. Plugs and a pump - I'm set. | ||

Ya 'spose it is a Michelin PRII thing only? I had a never before kind of blow out last spring when a rock took out my rear tire. It only kicked the back of the bike a foot up and six inches to the right at 55 mph in a corner. Flat shale rocks should not be allowed to hit my tires!  Here is to you flat sharp rock that takes out my rear tire .....don't do it again! | ||

The Distanzias are really tough when it comes to rocks. Small nails when you're down to the tread bars...not so hot. | ||

PR2 is supposed to be a dual compound tire with the center being the harder compound. I haven't checked where the latest leak is but the first one is dead center and the other is just off center, both in the hard rubber. I'm going to try to find the 3rd leak tomorrow and it may be one of the first two plugs I put in but we shall see. | ||

A harder wearing rubber compound has nothing to do with being puncture resistant. I really do like getting over 11,000 miles out of a rear tire with these PR2's, and they handle great wet or dry. The only place they suck is mud or wet grass. IMHO they are worth paying 30% more for. Blaming a tire for getting a nail in it is like blaming the bike for having a wreck. It can only do as instructed by the operator. | ||

The PR2 or Pilot Road 2CT is a great tire and suits the Uly very well for road work. I had to change my rear at 7k, it still had 1k plus on it, because of one bad puncture but many small flint punctures as well. Its just one of those things with bikes. The thiner the rubber gets the more chance you will get of a puncture. The Uly is not the best off road bike in its class and I do not think it was ever meant to be so. I have had Distanzias on another bike and they were good on the road. It would be interesting to try them on the Uly "off road" some time. | ||

Hey, I was getting constant rear wheel flat tires (slow leaks.) So I took it back to my dealer and said hey what gives. They bubble bathed the rear wheel and found that there was some paint on the wheel rim bead. So they removed the paint and the tire has been stable and remains fully inflated (at least 5 months now) No more slow leaks. | ||

11,000 on my roadsmart - now bald. Ride over rocks every time I take it out, some sharp ones too. No punctures / leaks of any kind. |
