I am looking for some windscreen brackets for my uly. The short shield is fine in the summer but the tall one I have for winter creates a lot of buffeting. Has anyone used both and can tell me the pros/cons of each? Are there any other ones out there I am missing?

Palmer came out with theirs first, then Madstad came out with one that required a new windshield and couldn't use your stock flyscreen like the Palmer. They have since revised it to get rid of those flaws, but I still feel the Palmer is the better setup. Vibrations aren't an issue, but Palmer does sell optional braces to reinforce it if you run a extra large windscreen.

I have a bunch of Palmers stuff, so I am a bit biased, but the quality and service are amazing : )

I've never used the Madstad brackets, but just installed the Palmer Brackets. I experienced the same problem without the offset brackets, my head/helmet were right in the airflow and had big time buffeting.

I'm 5' 9" and have the PB set on the middle height with the tall wind shield. Perfect. I have a KBC helmet and the vent on top of the helmet whistles. My Scorpion 1000 helmet doesn't have that problem.

I've not tried the highest bracket setting.

You can get just the brackets now to use with your stock flyscreen and windscreen from Madstad.. http://www.madstad.com/s.nl/it.A/id.368/.f

+2 on Palmer. Good quality products & service. Ian's windhields also seem to be more robust (4mm?) - Dont seem to vibrate / deflect as much as the ZG+4 at speed. j

I have the Palmer brackets with the tool-less adjustment mounted on a 2009 XB12XT with the stock windshield. I am 6 ft. tall and have the brackets adjusted to the max tilt and laid back positions, and am 100% satisfied with the results. As far as quality and service, I would not hesitate to recommend Iain Palmers products.

None of the links I found work for access to Palmers site. Is it just me?

Looks like to Palmer bracket mounts in the stock fly screen holes.
Is that correct?

I got the mad stad spider with the aluminum fly screen and the memphis shades lowers. Works great for me, can you say electra-glide? Bolts right up, only shakes when the uly shakes; xbs' with dts'

Full helmet-- shield up --shield down
three quarter helmet; its all good.

Sounds to me like two good products palmer and mad stad, no experience with palmer,
good for us.

Correct. Pop out the rubber grommets, mount the brackets.

The buffeting depends on your height, the screen and your helmet. Mostly the helmet I have found. Its an un-faired bike and that sort of thing will happen.

I am 6 foot 6 inch and its fine at 120 mph with my helmet because the wind hits my chest. I tried a C Bailey screen and it was not to good for me.

The madstad has a lot of flex in it. palmer works fine. I would recommend the support brackets for either brand.

I have the Palmer with the stock XT screen and I am very pleased with it. Really made riding much more comfortable. I decided to try it first without the support brackets and all seems to be fine without them.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Looks like Palmer has a lot of satisfied customers. Madstad people seem satisfied, there just aren't nearly as many of them.

I have a set of Palmer brackets with braces for sale, only used for about 500 miles.
$75 plus shipping. I like them but my Uly is going down road in the spring.
