Hey all,

I looked for this in the vault and didn't see it. I get the ole brake squeel when applying the front brake. It works fine, no pulsing just the noise as you apply it. If you just slow with a slight grab of the lever its fine but a tad more and it squeels. You grab more lever and it gets worse till you pull a tad more and its gone.

Sand the pads, use brake kleener on the pads, rough up the disc? The disc is dark in color at this point with the shadows of the holes present here and there. wear marks I guess.

Seems like it was all good till I went to the Hill country and used the brakes A LOT! Pads seem to have plenty of pad with lots of the groove in the pads left.

Whats the WORN OUT measurment anyway? Thickness. Whats a new pads thickness? I went through this on the Strom when I thought the pads were worn out they were so thin compared to my Lc 1500 pads. Come to find out the pads are thin new. Same applies here?

I will be gettin new pads soon anyway just to have on hand. Is a front disc replacement nessasary very often? I went with the EBC discs on the Strom at 25,000 miles. The OEM were worn real bad. Work great on the Strom.

Thanks all.

If you look at the edge of the pads, you can see the backing plate and the friction material. The friction material has notches in it. Once the notches are gone...time for new pads. Kinda like tire tread.

My guess is you glazed them (polished them up). Take 'em off and sand/scuff them lightly to rough up the surface some, same for the rotor. Should be fine after that.

NOT a good use for WD40!
I've heard of the rotors warping but not wearing out, they must be much harder than cage rotors.
